Hey great work! I cant wait to see it. Does this work as a workbench replacement as well now. I tried the 68k version as an application and it wasnt bad. This could even help to get some friendly race going between the Ambient dev team and the Scalos team to make the better desktop!

download also the 1.2d package since the file MCPFrame.mcc is missing from the beta archive.

Tested now for an hour and it beats clearly the present Ambient... Ambient Panels compatible plugin would be great though (but luckily Pixload exists...).

I tried it on my Peg II 600mhz mos, 1.4.4, the install script failed at line 8, so i installed manually. It was very unstable on my system, about 50% of the time when opening windows they open blank and other times the system freezes.

I understand it's a early Beta and I look forward to these issues getting fixed. Keep up the good work :)

AwESoMe News guys! I'm so happy that there is another option available to all the MorphOS users. I'll be installing the beta myself once some of the daily chaos is done in the house!

Again, kudos to everyone involved in the port!

I have problems with this one.

    1. It needs the newer version of Installer. Found on AmigaOS v3.9 CD etc.

    2. The installer script seems to work, but nothing happends here. It asks even at the end if I want to have ScalOS as replacement, and I click yes.. after boot nothing... Why?

    3. The Prefs as in the screenshot, dosen't work at all. Tried to put the ScalOS file into WBstartup dir, but then it opened on top of Ambient. How to make it replace like on the screenshot?

    4. There should be a manualguide, for those which arent so familiar with AmigaOS or atleast are so technically.

    5. Tested it, and it seems very nice. Have the AmigaOS animation lasso :) which is nice...

    6. Will you add poppup listers in ScalOS maybe, like in dopus? That would be superb!

    7. Will you add transeparent windows possibility? Is that at all possible to do? Like in MacOSX for example, or is that difficult?

    Nice work!...

Sound nice, but is unusable since it hangs when opening windows... I don't understand how one guy could use it for 1 hour...

    Anyway, sound promizing.

See above - putting Scalos into WBStartup cannot possiby work. In the archive, there is a special "LoadWB" or "LoadWB.scalos" that is supposed to replace the standard LoadWB in the c: drawer. That "LoadWB" starts Scalos as a Workbench/Ambient replacement.

The problem is that Scalos put LoadWB in Sys:C but the original LoadWB is in Sys:MorphOS/C

Oh, and can there be nicer default prefs? The existing is a bit, well, weird.

Could you please be a bit more specific? What exactly do you find "weird" ?? MainPrefs? Pattern Prefs? Palette Prefs? Menu Prefs?

Its good to have Scalos on MorphOS now!
I've always liked Scalos on 68k.

Unfortunately the Scalos installer does not work.
First, it did not like the old Installer which I have.
Then I've downloaded the new Installer 1.7 from Aminet.
Now using the new installer Scalos opened a blue screen during install but then froze my system.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers
    Gunnar

You need the newest installer, as this one uses backgrounds and pics when installing ScalOS.

So, the LoadWB should go into system:morphos/C instead of system:C ? I am a bit confused which of these dirs I should be using at all for MorphOS :)

Hmm I've installed it to my test partition fine and got it working after making a few changes to things. I cant get a menu when I right click. Is there one? Some drawers when I open them are in list view. and the drawer is huge and I have to scroll to find the dors and files. Other then that its working great. How to i get a right click menu and how to I get it to show icons in all the drawers I open?

There are some preferences files in the archive, including menu prefs. You need to install those files in envarc:scalos/ resp.

Ah, thats it then. I didnt install it all th eway. It kept locking up on me. i tried to run it as an app from the archive. I'll mess with it later when I have time. I am off to work for a 24 hour shift in about 30 mins.

Everything. The extra menu is useless in most parts, the colors look like in 1993 and so on. Just a Prefs optimized for MorphOS.
