There was an attempt by the Leopard WebKit author some years back but didn't work out apparently:

As "PowerPC-ifying" a JavaScript-to-x86(_64) JIT compiler essentially equals rewriting it from scratch, the TenFourFox author did exactly that, i.e. rewriting a JavaScript-to-PPC JIT compiler from scratch :-)
