    @Andreas_Wolf:

I mean the new, not detachable GUI and these ugly context-menus they stole from Chrome.
I seems they are thinking: "Chrome does it, we need that too. (so maybe some users come back)".

More useless features with every version, instead of fixing what would be important, like 64bit or faster JS.
Anyway, i'm not using it anymore...

    Uh, yes, Gecko.
    My bad.

    And the comment about webkit:

"...the real issue preventing a new release is that there is a blocking endian issue in JavascriptCore: it just doesn't work at all on bigendian/32bits architectures (all of them), and they just don't care at all..."

    Seems pretty problematic.

But Youtube still works fine. I also updated the fullscreen userscript in august, and it still works fine.
The other youtube script that allowed to show direct link would need fixing other the other hand, but it's not that necessary. There are other scripts for that (like EzDownload) and you can also retrieve the video url from network and messages window, anyway.

Just a quick (and probably dump) question. If MorphOS NG ever happen would it be easier to port something like FireFox or Chrome over?

If we were going to use a Blink based browser like I believe Chrome is, why not Opera (I just like underdogs...and I'm a troublemaker ;)).

I have, historically, have used Firefox (obviously on non-MorphOS platforms).
But I'm glad you brought that up because I have shifted to using Chrome primarily, just recently.

It feels cleaner and its on all my Android devices.

Still, lets not make the developers heads explode.

AFAIK I would doubt that. Only the PPC-endianness problems will go away. E.g. OWB could be updated to 1.25 like the AROS-version.

Considering that the endianness problems are the current stumbling blocks, "only" is a severe understatement. Besides, the existing JavaScript JIT could be used directly instead of having a core OS developer waste time with creating a new one only to fail at endianness problems (or whatever) again.

I know the FULLSCREEN script works OK, but will there be a fix for the other scripts, as I don't know a way to retrieve the video, to save the file, from the network or from any message window.

The only way I was able to save the video file from YouTube, AFAIK, was using the previously working OWB scripts, though any explanation as to how to do it another way would be really appreciated. ;-)

    Not on a bet.
Ever tried the OS or its browser?

Hey, I have an idea, why not just stick with OWB?
Like I said before, I'm not even that fond of Firefox.

And what else would have the level of support Fan has provided. Seriously, I have had less issues with his one man show than the browsers I have used in rotation.

The latest Firefox update starts acting up, I move to Chrome, Chrome starts crashing regularly I try Opera (which is steadily improving).
Then I get back on a MemphIS system, using OWB, no problem.

So why keep discussing this topic?
Makes us sound like OS4 users.

I want to discuss this topic. I don't think I have participated in this discussion. I like FireFox. It should be ported to MorphOS. Or, perhaps a FireFox-like browser. An Opera based browser would not be possible before because Opera was proprietary. (this has changed since 2012). Also, I request a Konqueror be ported to MorphOS.

However, none of this should happen soon. I will wait until all the other work has been completed. This includes OS improvements, and also more hardware and ISA supporting. It is much more important than the variety of Web Browsers.

And I do not think Odyssey is bloatware as Google Chrome is.

Yes. Open many bounties. Not just FireFox. But many other Bounties. Open as many bounties as possible. The Morph Team is overwhelmed.

I do understand the privacy and personal integrety issues people have with Chrome.

But *bloated*? That was a first...

MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

I tried the Chromium browser on MacOSX/x64 and it is like Chrome without the Google spyware. So a Blink-based browser for MorphOS would surely have to be open-source Chromium rather than closed-source Chrome or Opera.

Ask that to the author of comment #85 who started the Blink sub-topic ;-)

No, it has not changed. Opera has remained proprietary to this day. Only its rendering engine was changed from proprietary Presto to open-source Blink in 2013.
