have you installed apooler in user-startup? is apooler listed after
    STATUS command?

Have it in my user-startup but there's nothing with the name "STATUS" in it

That's nice, now try running the command Status in a shell window.

Can I donwload these fonts from elsewhere, instead of using the script at home?

Yes, just read the script, it's quite simple really.

Done. It's strange that there's not an archive with just the TTF files, but a series of Windows executables. Thankfully, 7Zip was able to extract them.
Aside from the font files, Sputnik includes a certain "ttengine2.database" text file, which is ignored by this script. Will put it in "env-archive", as its source suggests.

A great step to the right direction.
Speed is still an issue, as are some layout issues (e.g. www.n-tv.de has still severe probs). Also forms do not work fully (I cannot log in e.g. aw.net (but that might be with intention ;-) )).
But a big step into the right direction anyway.

    Keep up the good work.

Yes, OpenURL adds the port number to the arexx port. Shouldn't have to type in the arexx port for Sputnik at all, since OpenURL has a dropdown box with a list of Arexx ports ;-)

Status is a shell command - it lists all active processes, apooler
should be listed too, if not - apoller isn't running.
After all - I am user of PegII with G4 1 GHz... on my machine
scrolling is smooth, maybe elder PPCs are too slow?

apooler made a big difference on my system PegII G4, especially for
scrolling. The browser is getting a lot better but there are still a
few issues, mainly to do with refreshing oddly. Also the text entry
area is messed up on mine, the letters appear way below the cursor
    while typing.

Some problems with text area are connected with default settings of
MUI String gadget. To solve it - open MUI preferences for Sputnik,
click on "String" and change color of "container" and "...activated" -
choose any color (from pens, or color wheel) instead of "Same as
    parent object".

On my machine (Peg II G3) Sputnik is a little slower than f.ex. AWeb (I don't mean the lack of cache related slowness), but quite usable anyway. It is stable enough and show sufficient number of sites correctly to use it in place of AWeb. From time the second version of Sputnik appeared, AWeb practically is a history for me. :)

I don't know how fast Sputnik would be without APoller - I use this program much time before Sputnik was public available.

I think the main problem is not with the speed, but with the flickering, bad page rendering, and not working pages (especially GMail, GoogleMaps, etc.)...

I know, it is a beta, and these features and weaknesses are acceptable at this stage. :) So it could be sometime a great browser for MorphOS, but it needs some more work :)

When could we expect the next beta? ;)

    Hello,

I tested spulnik with the two versions of apooler on my provider web page, www.orange.fr . In the two cases in statline I saw the cpu staying between 95 % and 100 % during 15 minutes. The memory decreased during these 15 minutes when the page is loaded from 409 mo to 259 mo with last version of apooler and from 409 mo to 298 mo with the first version of apooler.

With the first release of sputnik and the first version of apooler I had no problems of this kind on my provider web page.

Hi all, second try and now with some updates and tips
    from here, this is the situation;

    1 - Updated my Ambient from 26/02/07 to 11/03/07
    2 - Installed apooler 1.0a

    Results

The slow scrolling gone;-), the loading page speed get
a little beter, down from 54s load to a 46s load in
this site www.terra.com.br, so I can use sputnik now
and wait for the next beta.

Obs: A allmoust freezy situation in MOS can be done
opening sputnik prefs and then hit the cancel button
    without changing anything.

    Again thanks Marcik.

I had very high CPU (1 GHz 7447) load (higher than 90%) for several minutes - before installing apooler. The other symptoms were very slow and annoying webpage scrolling and high Sputnik closing (above 10 s). After installing apooler I observed the highest CPU load not higher than 60% for 5 s. Slow scrolling and closing Sputnik also have done.
I use apooler version 1.0a. (It is easy to check is apooler running, it should be listed by Status command in shell)

I have an issue with Sputnik...

I have a huge area between the address bar and the actual website rendering. How do I remove it?

    Regards,

    Matt

I think this one might be covered earlier in the thread. Just open the Prefs window and save preferences maybe?

if u don't have raggae installed u cannot run sputnik.

Sputnik uses raggae a lot for http stream and other task, so u must install it (the installer of sputnik install raggae automagically for u ^_^)
