    @papiosaur

After installing pack 3.4.1 I'm having a few issues. Please note that I installed Chrysalis after a fresh, new and complete installation of Morphos 3.4. These are the issues:

    1. OWB slows down my computer and makes the screen to flicker randomly.
    2. Same as above with Grunch.

I'm using a Mac Mini G4 1.5Ghz. Another important point is that I never had these issues with any previous versions of Morphos or Chrysalis. This is something completely new.

    Hi WeiXing3D,

Maybe you need more graphic memory...(maybe MUI Prefs Planet Blue consume more graphic memory)

Do you have a Mac mini with 32 MB ?

If yes, try to desactive Enhanced display for Ambient screen in MorphOS Prefs -> Screens.

But I never had that issue with any previous installations of Morphos or Chrysalis.

From where can I check the size of my graphic memory inside Morphos?

SYS:Utilities/GraphicsBoards or Graphicsmemory screenbar, for instance.

    OR I GUESS YES!

What about a Device: RV280 (Radeon 9200) with 32 MBytes of memory, a memory clock 191 MHz and GPU Clock of 250mhZ

Is that big enough? See attached screen grab.

Now some suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

LET'S NOT FORGET THAT I NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE WITH ANY OTHER VERSIONS OF MOS OR CHRYSALIS!

I tried to attach a Screen grab of Graphicboards, but I'm getting this error message: Error: 1: /var/www/morph.zone/modules/newbb_plus/cache/attachments/ does not exist or is not writable.

I tried sending that from my Windows laptopn and I'm getting the same message.

The grab is of course a *.png file

If you really have only 32 MiB VRAM then I guess you don't really have a "Mac Mini G4 1.5Ghz". Or is the CPU overclocked?

Andreas, that I wouldn't know. Those are the specs I was given when I bought it in early 2012 and it's the same system I've been using with morphos and chrysalis for almost 2 years now.

The specs that I wrote are the ones listed in Sys:Utilities/GraphicBoards

Is any of the new changes in 3.4 and Chrysalis 3.4.1 affecting the performance of the Mac Mini?

Any solutions?; other than buying a new Mac

    Citation of Papiosaur:

"Do you have a Mac mini with 32 MB ?

If yes, try to desactive Enhanced display for Ambient screen in MorphOS Prefs -> Screens."

You can also try to desactivate double and tripple buffering in MorphOS Prefs -> Display Engine.

Thanks papiosuar, but I didn't find these path to desactivate double and tripple buffering in MorphOS Prefs -> Display Engine.

Not all 1,5 GHz Minis have 64 MB VRAM. If my memory is correct, they are actually all overclocked 1,42 GHz versions. Then we have the "silent upgrade" that does have 64 MB VRAM.

    @WeiXing3D, @Papiosaur

I think if you open OWB in Ambient even 32 MB will be enough in Enhanced mode (from my own experience a year ago) but if you try with opening it on it's own screen you don't have enough VRAM.

But that doesn't explain the problem with Grunch.

Display Engine is on top and on the right of MorphOS Prefs panel.

Unchecking the Enhanced Display option in Sys:Prefs/ (Morphos Preferences/Screens) solved the flickering and the slow down.

But why is this happening with the uopdate of Chrysaiis? Like I have tried to explain, I never had this issue before with any other release.

Unchecking Enhanced Display works but the look of the Chrysalis Pack docking bar at the bottom of the screen now it has a black background. It doesn't look good.

Also all games are now playing in a small window in the upper left corner on a black background covering the rest of the screen. Selecting or unselecting "promote SDL screen" in the SDL preferences doesn't fix the problem.

I just checked in chipmunk for the specs of my Mac Mini and this is what I found for my model:
    Machine Model: PowerMac10,1
Name: Mac mini (power PC / G4)
    ModelCode: mac_mini
    Family name: A1103
    Group1: Mac mini
    Group2: G4
    Generation:
    CPU speed: 1.42GHz
    Production year: 2006
    Production week: 28 (July)
Production number: 1476 (within this week)
    Model introduced: 2005
    Memory - flavour: DDR1-L-333
Memory - number of slots: 1
    Memory - maximum total: 1GB
    Memory - largest module: 1GB
Factory: YM (China (Hon Hai = Foxconn) Configured in Czech Republic?)

Suggestions for these issues are welcome. Or should I roll back to MOS 3.3 and Chrysalis 3.3.1?

I know this, hence my question about overclocking. Apple never sold 1.5 GHz G4 Mac minis with only 32 MiB VRAM, so the overclocking must have happened by the initial buyer or some other owner after him.

No, I mean CPU clock, not Bus clock. CPU clock is some lines below in CPU -> Model.
I just saw the edit in your previous post where it says "CPU speed: 1.42GHz". This seems to confirm what I've been thinking. Now have a look what MorphOS says about the CPU clock and you'll know whether you'd been screwed by the seller or not ;-)

I guess the biggest point here is that my Mac Mini worked like a charm with all previous versions of MOS & Chrysalis, but obviously I ran out of juice to run the current and future versions.

Unfortunately I'm not finding any good deals in eBay here in the U.S. for a Power Mac G5 dual 2.7 GHZ. Any other good suggestions for hardware considering the new hardware requirements?
