What! That can't be true, can it? Well it is for certain dates this Summer. I am blessed to live in a beautiful mountain resort community at 7,000ft above Sea Level. Not far from Los Angeles, California with more useless entertainment than you can imagine, it is only a 2+ hour drive into Los Angeles and a little further to all the West Coast beaches full of barely clothed movie actresses. What does this have to do with MorphOS? Nothing, except that I have some extra room for visitors, I would welcome any MorphOS users from the UK and EU anywhere (as long as they are fairly well behaved while they are in my home) and if they plan their vacation to California right before the October AmiWest 2010 Show, they are welcome to share travel expenses and go up to Sacramento with me to attend the show. Just give me a little gasoline money and we will drive up there and back with a bunch of Amiga & MorphOS hardware to show at AmiWest 2010.

My home city is at the top of a mountain with a 15 mile long, 1 mile wide lake, hiking trails, Winter ski chair lift that is used during the Summer to take visitors up to a small restaurant at the top of the ski resort, where you can then ride the chair lift back down, hike down, or take one of the many dirt roads down by rented bicycle that you would bring up with you hooked to the side of the chair lift. For the young at heart, all the amusement parks in Southern California are only about 2.5 hours away by rental car (unless I decided to go with you, then we take my car).

So, if any of you are interested in visiting the USA this Summer, or if you are interested in going to AmiWest 2010 with me, contact me ASAP to find out what dates will work for me and then make your flight plans soon because the Summer is going by fast.

Perhaps next year or the one after that I can get the same offer from one of you, so I can visit the UK again (first visit was way too short and I would love to see more of the country instead of just London), or other places in the EU. I would love to visit France, Italy, Germany, and many other parts of the EU some day.

Edit: I would also love to go to Australia. I have been to New Zealand and it was fantastic (my Sister lives there), but I was not able to go to Australia during that trip.

That is a very nice offer. Perhaps it is a bit late for 2010 in the sense that the traditional summer vacation time will soon be over, however. Many people would need several weeks to plan for a trip to another continent (applying for vacation time, ordering flights, etc).

Yes, the offer came to my mind a bit late for this year, but there might be some MorphOS users somewhere that can make vacation and flight arrangements before our California Summer is over in late October. Early November is often still good weather here and for many people that are used to much colder climates, our Winter from December to March is probably no colder than their Fall season.

I would like if one to three MorphOS users could make it over here in time to go to the AmiWest 2010 Show with me, but the offer is good for almost anytime as long as they contact me first to make sure I don't have other plans away from my home at the time they want to visit. There are about 11 weeks before the AmiWest 2010 Show starts, maybe it is 12 weeks, so someone could probably make their arrangements to get here if they can get the time off from work and can afford the flight tickets.

Edit: Actually Winter at my house is cold and there is usually snow on the ground, but then you drive less than 2 hours down to Palm Springs and you can find 80 degree F temperatures in the middle of Winter on good days, or go the other direction and it may be as warm as 70 degrees F in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas and another hour to get to San Diego near the Mexico border where it may be almost as warm as Palm Springs on certain days. That is the warm Winter weather I was referring to above.

    @ausPPC

I knew you were from Australia, but I didn't know you were a Grandpa.

In case this thread scrolled off the front page too quickly, I'll bump it just once for the month of August in hopes that at least one MorphOS user can join me for the trip to the AmiWest 2010 Show on Oct. 22nd, 23rd & 24th.

If interested, send me a PMail, or email to amigadave@earthlink.net. I guarantee your stay here at my home and trip to and back from AmiWest 2010 will be entertaining and the show itself should be great this year.

Edit: Any of you MorphOS Development Team members in need of a vacation in October? I would love to have one of you help demonstrate MorphOS with me at the show and answer questions that I cannot!

What an offer Dave, amazing! There's no more beutiful community spirit than offering your very home to strangers sharing your hobby.

You teaserrr... I could stand it better if you lived in an ugly, unfriendly place. But California! Oh my, if I could afford the plane tickets.

No tease intended, just trying to meet new friends that share my MorphOS hobby. I already have two friends that live within 100 miles from my house that have gone with me to AmiWest the last two years, and are planning on going again this year, but I enjoy meeting and making new friends. Specially if they are from other countries so I can learn from them what it is like where they live. Then if I get the chance to travel to their country some day, I will know at least one person there that can tell me the best places to visit, or see while I am there. That is much better than just going to the most visited tourist attractions in any country. The people that live there can always tell you what to avoid and what is a "must see" and how not to waste your money when vacationing.

I would provide the same type of information to anyone who wanted to come to my home for a vacation and to see more of the surrounding cities, even if I was not able to go every where with them.

I used to have 1 to 3 students in our home from other countries years ago, when I was still married. It was very interesting talking to them about their countries, customs and histories. I even stay in touch with one student from Japan via email a few times a year. She is my Japanese daughter and I am her American Dad (not officially or legally). I hope to visit her some time in the next few years. She is having her first child some time this month.

So, I am still hoping that some MorphOS user, or Dev. Team member will come to visit and stay in my home some time in the future. If they can come for the AmiWest 2010 Show in October, but if not then, any other time will be okay too (as long as they contact me and tell me at least a few weeks in advance).

Where do you live? You mean you can't afford the gasoline to drive to and from the show, or bus fare?

If you want a ride to the AmiWest 2010 Show, I might be able to pick you up on the way there, but cannot guarantee that I can fit it into my busy schedule as I am running the Amiga Game Competition at the show again this year and I will have my own table at the show displaying MorphOS2.5 running on my Efika, my 1.5GHz G4 MacMini, and on the 1.25GHz eMac I just purchased today. The eMac will be for sale at the show with the free demo version of MorphOS2.5 installed on it for $99.00.

Let me know if I can help and I will try to accommodate you if I can.

I know it seems early, but if there's any planning to do, it seems Amiwest started organizational work as early as April. Please contact Brian as soon as you know what you want to do.

Wow, what a cool offer. Sadly I will be pre-occupied during that time of the year, otherwise I'd totally take you up on that. How very in the spirit of the Amiga you are! :)

    Hi XDelusion

That offer was for last year. Dave has not responded yet on this year's plans.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, Dave's away for a few weeks on a job.
You could try PM'ing him, but I'm not sure if he'll respond.
And last year's offer was pretty cool.
Wish I'd taken him up o it.

Yep, its a good thing David didn't post his address or he'd be liable to come home to house guests. ;)

Since I did not have an Internet connection where I was working and staying in Hawaii for the past 4-1/2 weeks, I was not aware of this thread being revived before I wrote my new thread to invite anyone that wants to come to this year's AmiWest Show.

My offer is the same as it was last year and yes, Acill has expressed interest in going with me, but that does not mean I won't have room for 1 or 2 more people in my car for the drive to AmiWest. I also have a couple of other friends that took their own car last year that might have room for an additional person in their car for the trip, unless they ask me to come in my car this year. If we start to run out of room in the car for luggage, I will just take my trailer with us to make more room.
