What exactly do you mean by "Ambient Shell". If you mean the shell launched by the Ambient menue, then yeah that's the MorphOS Shell. It's using MUICon as console handler, executes s:shell-startup at launch and looks for commands in c:.

There are two different "shells" in MorphOS, MUICON and SYSCON. SYSCON used to be default CON, but nowadays it's MUICON. I think SYSCON is still used if you boot without startup-sequence. If you meant that, they aren't the same.

You can open SYSCON shell for example with newshell command (newshell "SYSCON://640/480/System shell/CLOSE"). Or if you prefer to use it as default, you'll need to edit CON file from DOSDrivers or move whole file to Storage directory from Devs directory.

They are the same. You can set the window title to whichever you prefer.

    Example:
    NewShell CON:200/240/640/480/oscoshell/CLOSE

You can use different con-handlers, but the shell remains the same.
If you want to try different shells, there's zshell and csh on aminet, and also old WShell, that was/is commercial.
