Hello, just wanted to know if there is a option under morphos to show on the top bar the memory the system has, as well as the graphic ram(i know that chip isn't anymore on this newer machines). I remember that long time ago i saw a MorphOS shot wich was showing that, but i don't recall if it was with a 3rd party app, or using a feature on the OS itself.
    Thanks in advance!!!

Right mouse click on the screen depth gadget at the top right of the screen and then select Modules->Memory.

Just activate a memory screenbar plugin (RMB on screen depth gadget). You can alternatively get MemoryGauge plugin from MorphOS Files.

Yeah, i know memorygauge, it is already installed on my system, but i was thinking about showing it in numbers, not on a graphic bar. Just like the old wb. I remember that i saw that on a morphos machine.

Well, file a MorphOS bug... I like simplicity but in this case having just a bar without any other information is too simple (I just tried it myself) so I agree with you.

Perhaps have a look at the sbar settings? See if there isn't a possibility to configure it to your needs?

Memorygauge can be configured like that. Here's an example config I just tried by using 0% opacities ;)

And here's like I normally use it.. with a little not too visible gauge:

OK, fair enough. I discovered the settings. A "Memory" settings were inserted after the "Clock" settings once I acrtivated it.

What I tried is double clicking and right-clicking on the bar itself. I already reported a bug against clock that it should be configurable by double clicking on it which saves lots of juggling with preferences. I would say the same goes for the bar or other gadgets up there. If they are configurable, I think their configuration panel shuould be reachable directly via the gadget (double click or right-click). It is the most intuitive way -- the moment the user see the bar the immediate thing to do is to click, double click and right click on it to see what's going on...

But it could be just unimaginative me :-)

But i tried to configure it but i don't see the option for displaying size in bytes, only on percentage of used, or free.
    How have you done that?.

Ok, so bytes free isn't an option, but you can at least have it shows MBs free :) Information text, pick Free (MB).

Ok, using that right now, but on the screenshot that jpv showed, it seems that displayed size in bytes, not on megabytes. Or is displaying graphic memory?.
Is there a meter for graphic memory consumption?.

I think i'm using the amigazeux program, because i have the same images and backgrounds included in the amigazeux compressed file. But it only lets me show size i megabytes.
    Still investigating

OK, I enabled all gadgets up there and see that most of them react to double click. Nice.

However, I could not set this textual mode for the memory gadget. I tried setting that in the preferences, tried rebooting MorphOS, whatever I do it just shows the bar...

I was wrong, was using the installed by default with morphos. Now installed the amigazeux memorygauge.
Also, is there any gauge indicator for graphic memory?. That is, the available on the graphic card?.?Could be handy for those of us who have a 32mb vram mini to see how is the level of used memory.

Myself and others have asked for this feature before but apparently it is not possible at the moment. I don't know the technicalities, maybe one of the devs. will explain.

    @mihailod

And you're using the built-in "memory" gauge? Or the "memory gauge" from Amigazeux? Only the latter can be set to pure text mode (by setting the "visibility" of everything (except the text of course) to 0%).

    The built-in one.

However, "Information Text" dropdown (none, in use/free %, in use/free MB ) setting (as someone suggested above) implies (at least to me) that it's possible to see data as *text*... If not, the setting shuold not be there. (I was actually not able to figure out what this setting does whatsoever -- maybe it will be implemented in future and is left as a placeholder?)

Make sure the font you're using is <= Height in the settings.

    Ha! That did it!

I won't say anything how intuitive THAT one was... ;-)

    But thanks!

Seriously, IMHO, the parameter combination which makes text invisible should not be allowed.

Updated versions can be found here:

    http://www.geit.de/tmp/Memory.sbar

This version contains new drawing code. Font pens, draw mode and styles are supported. Frames can be configured and some positioning and spacing option have been added. So filled non filled gauge is as well possible as a text only view.
