AmiWest 2008 is gearing up and I don't see any mention of a certain so-called Amiga-like operating system on the exhibitors list. I thought there was some hardware and a new version of MorphOS available but I guess the show goers won't be able to witness that in person.

    Do I hear clucking?

Some still must show something off, while others just work, use and enjoy ;-)

The hardware is for example available from directron.com, vesalia.de, genesi-usa.com, etc...

MorphOS 2.1 is available from here: http://morphos-team.net

Why don't you buy one and bring it with you?

Or (looking at the exhibitors list) maybe if amigakit and discreet fx are serious enough in their MorphOS support, they will *both* put it on display...?

I don't think he meant showing efika...i wouldn't...not to show the full capabilities of morphOS2.1 he's probably referring to rumored successor boards.

Wouldn't we all... heh. It was a nice board. I've returned it since.

Anything would be fine. The last couple of years there has been absolutely nothing shown from MorphOS supporters.

While it could be nice to demo MorphOS for new people but Amiga scene is so dead that virtually nobody attends to those events anyway. I dont know if AmiWest is more alive than european user group meetings but that is how it usually is.

I am going to AmiWest and will be taking my EFIKA with registered MorphOS2.1 installed and working wireless keyboard and mouse. I would be glad to set it up and show it at the show, but as I am a brand new MorphOS user, I am not a good candidate for showing off the abilities of MOS2.1 on the EFIKA.

Isn't there any other MorphOS user that will be attending the show that can demonstrate it better than I?

I think we should have some demonstration of MorphOS's newest version of it's OS to all the Amiga users that will be in attendance.

    Thanks for trying at least.

According to Lecta there was no demo at Pianeta either.

That is very true, but it may be a little bigger this year.

I wish you would join us there with your Peg2 magnetic. You could sit the Peg2 next to my EFIKA and answer all the questions that I cannot.

Let me know and if you want to fly, instead of driving, I will haul your Peg2 up there for you and back (you pack it safely first).

Actually, this was the first year since 2001 that MorphOS wasn't present at Pianeta Amiga?(2001: a Teron board - reference board for the Pegasos 1 - was runnning MorphOS 0.x at the Titan booth, and Elena was running MorphOS on her A4000, 2002: Thendic France was there with the two Coyote Flux guys and David Gerber and a Pegasos running MorphOS 1.x, plus again Elena, 2003: Genesi with 2 Pegasos and two french guys, Frodon and I don't remember, plus Elena and Miky060 with 2 additional Pegs, 2004: in Rome, Pegasos Italia brought a couple of Peg2, and I brought my Pegasos1 to show VGP2, 2005: Pegasos-Italia was there, 2006 and 2007: I went there with my Pegasos2).
But you are right, this year's edition was a bit more like Pianeta ACube, and this made my decision to miss the show for the second time in 12 editions.
Anyway, I think I asked in IRC of some of you guys wanted to come, but had almost no feedback (just someone that said that he had no more money for trips) ;-)

    Kind regards,
    Andrea
