Best currently available option for running MorphOS

    My main MorphOS system has stopped booting (MacMini) and I don't know if it will ever come back to life. My secondary system is an old iBook that doesn't hold a charge and has a very bad screen (by today's standards).

    I'd like to continue to use MorphOS (as well as save the files from the HD of my non-functioning machine), but I don't want to invest in 20 year old hardware to run it. Also, I don't want to spend a fortune on a massive tower system.

    What are the best options available?

    3 options :

    - wait for Mirari being sold to endusers

    - ignore age and buy an iSight Mac G5

    - buy slightly less old ATX PPC used. So SAM or Pegasos2 ( I wouldn’t recommend this one)

    Hehe, same problem here.
    I will reactivate my Power Mac Mdd, but
    I‘am also waiting for the Mirari board.

    I would wait for the Mirari. Or get another Mac mini. Or buy the iSight iMac G5 Kronos mentions, it's not 20 years old, only 19 years and max. 11 months.

    The only trouble with trying to acquire an A1145 iSight iMac is that they are becoming hard to find. I haven't seen one for sale for over 1 year, maybe even longer. I had 2 of them that I had intended to be backups that ended up failing as well. So, I'm down to a minimum in my iMac (compatible with MorphOS) hardware. Fortunately I have a few PowerBooks (A1138/A1139) spare, and batteries for them, as well as a few PowerMac G5s, and Mac Minis. 8-)
    MacMini 1.5GHz,64MB VRAM, PowerBooks A1138/9 (Model 5,8/9),PowerMac G5 2.3GHz(DP), iMac A1145 2.1GHz 20", all with MorphOS v3.18+,Airport,Bluetooth,A1016 Keyboard,T-RB22 Mouse,DVD-RW-DL,MiniMax,Firewire/USB2 & MacOSX 10.4/5

    Would it be possible to attach a CD-rom drive to this board in a way MorphOS would recognize? The number one use I have for my current MorphOS setup is encoding my CD collection to FLAC. Unfortunately, USB CD-rom drives aren't recognized (and currently Flacapella isn't downloading metadata, anyway).

    If the price is right, this would seem the best route to go when it's available.

    It has 2 SATA ports, so a SATA DVD should work just fine.
