Tenfourfox in OS X and Firefox in Linux are both so incredibly slow. OWB is much faster. Is OWB FOSS? Can it be ported?

Have you tried "leopard-webkit" on OS X? It uses the same core web browser engine (but a different version) as Odyssey and feels a LOT faster than TenFourFox.

I have great respect for the developer of TenFourFox and his accomplishments but it really requires a top of the line G5 Mac to be what I would consider to be useable. "leopard-webkit" feels a lot quicker on a Mac mini or Powerbook, for instance.

Please note that you may need to use TenFourFox to download and install "leopard-webkit" as Sourceforce only allows access via secure connections which fails with the old Safari due to outdated certificates. Moreover, make sure you also install the Quicktime update which is linked in the "leopard-webkit" DMG image. This is required to be able to view videos on YouTube, for instance.

It wouldn't make sense to port Odyssey to OSX/PPC or Linux/PPC. The engine is already there and the MUI GUI would have to be rewritten from scratch for another, probably slower UI toolkit. Porting to an OS with memory protection would probably take away from the felt speed also.
