I remember that someone did a screenrecording tool of MorphOS. I can't find it anymore? Its nice to record MorphOS screen for sure and it would make it easier to make MorphOS presentations for YouTube etc.

Anyone?

Yes, but the tool is not so good. Also the .avi file its creating cant be played with mplayer even on this 2ghz powermac g5.

Any other solutions? or maybe a fix for this program?

well recording in full resolution (1080p) is quite hard to handle for a G5@2GHz. Try recording in lower resolution or scale it down. AFAIK it is also possible to only record the area around the mouse pointer.

I wrote a patch for Fab once that does a fast down-conversion to 4:2:0, making Mplayer quite capable of playing back these videos (though 1080p might still be somewhat heavy lifting), but I don't know if it ever went into his build.

If it's just an image (PNG or JPEG) that you want of your screen or even part of your screen (which does not include part of an MPlayer GUI screen image) then SnapIT should suit your needs very nicely.

I use it a lot, and you can even "lasso" a section of the screen, and you can choose to save screengrabs incrementally, to a set destination, so it is very useful - well it is for me.

MPlayer plays MJPEG:s from Screen Recorder just fine here, at least the sizes my G4 machines are able to record :)

I've also converted them to MPEG-4 with Mencoder...

But I've just recorded very small resolution videos to maintain the overal speed of demonstrations... currently saved setting is 300 pixels mouse capture zone with half framerate.

What version of mplayer do you use? Cant get it to play my recordings.

Are you sure you don't try to play too big videos with too little vram, so that it can't open overlay for example? What does MPlayer say if you try that in shell? Can you give a short video to try?
