Dunno understand why everybody cares about that 3d stuff. I mean... if you want to play actual 3d games then use a PC or a console. These games are far better than _any_ new 3d game which maybe will appear in the next 4 years for morphos/amigaos.

and MAME runs... what do u want more? :)

And i implore you to use a better subject/ title next time. I hate to click on all this 'important' or 'look this' links only to read again some whining about missing features. Thank you.

    regards,

well if we have opengl suport we can have AC3D the author of this software (witch is better than lightwave) has agreed to port and maintain AC3D for MorphOS. i think that is important. it is really good comercial grade software.

We do have OpenGL support, it is still a work in progress while designs are tried and tested and improved to provide one of the best OpenGL APIs and the best support possible under MorphOS.

Give me an email (neko@vapor.com), and get the AC3D guy in on it too. We'll discuss your/his requirements for OpenGL, and possibly sort out some kind of plan.

Does he have a Pegasos and so on?

Tokai you should know/understand that OpenGL/3D support is not needed only for games. Every 3D drawing application today needs it to work. Moreover it would be interesting for the future to use hardware acceleration of GFX boards in to Ambient for GUI elements, like MacOSX does.

I think that we need 3D for things as 3D apps...

    JunGL will be a 4D OpenGL instead of 3D ? ;)

Because MorphOS isnt an AmigaOS, is a new OS and must have the things that have modern OSes and others than not have ( such as optimization and stability that others not have ), in AmigaOS the people not should make important things for the platform, and in MorphOS seems make it, but is normal in a new platform, no?

    @mikey060:

yeah, but most whining is about games. At some point we will have OpenGL but no games and the whining will continue... you know what I mean ;)

Well, running MorphOS without a Pegasos is a difficult concept.

As and when he has the hardware, or if he wants hardware somehow (i.e. this is his idea and he is excited, and not just begrudgingly supporting your insistance to port it :) then that's another thing we can talk about.

To give him access to OpenGL prereleases when he doesn't have anything to run them on is a bit useless :)

If anyone else has a product or project that requires OpenGL and they think they need access to pre-release material, then they are free to contact me and go through the pain and torture required to impress me.

I don't play with computer for ages... I have a PS2 with hundreds of games and when I have time I play always and ONLY at GranTurismo3 8-) However I PERSONALLY don't care about games on MOS, but I think every modern machine like Pegasos/MOS is MUST have 3D support without discussion. It's also a question of public image. It will sell much more if it will be a 'complete' machine.

Yep. There always seems to be room for more whining.

There will be a lot of whining to come before JunGL is released to ordinary users, too, but of course if any games people want to work with us and try it out, they are free to ask in order to have it available, and work as soon as possible after JunGL's release (or perhaps even encourage it further! :)

Also, I dare say JunGL will hit the streets before Hyperion's blessed and holy "Nova" and their hyper-accelerated Mesa port based around it.
