Yes, and that's why I decided for only one of those two things to do.

I very much hope that you would delete many posts herein if you could. To be exact, this thread was completely good for the first 27 messages, then in message #28 someone started to drag it down to a personal level.

WIFI - I can live without it. 3D support - the same ;) Bring it on!

I can not. I mean no WiFi no fun no notebook. GFX is not a core functionality right.

Frankly, I saw no operational notebook at all, connected in any other way that WLAN/WWAN. So since no 3G is planned, WiFi is the only way out.
Was: Mac Mini PPC running MorphOS 2.4
Now: Amiga Forever 2010 with AmiKit and AmigaSYS
Not used: Icaros Desktop 1.2 (reason: no wifi)
    Planned soon: an OS4 system
Shortly then: a MOS notebook (wifi is a must-have)

The poll is a nice idea.
I would be happy to have it even without 3D and WiFi for a first release.

Right. And the people with no current MorphOS system should be given two tokens to vote :-D

Sorry, its just that I've seen your other post asnd I know you're a reasonable person with ususlly good input to the threads.

Andreas, while occasionally condesending, has helped provide me with a lot of useful info.

And I feel foolish when I see references to that comment I made.

It was in reference to a connection Andreas made between Cell development and Power8 processors. And only time will tell, but he might have madea good prediction (or if you prefere hypothesis).

Anyway, I don't want to insult you eother mag, I just seen better posts from you.

It was clearly said that If the PowerBook release takes place, it will (at current state) happen without wireless network support, but never ever without full 3d support, as it's a key feature of MorphOS 2.x.

It also was also said that beside the main functionality, additional stuff like a battery display (display, not support) is missing, which is also very important as it's quite bad when the system shuts down while writing to hard drive. Installation process and setup needs to be tested.

The fact that it's working for us, does not imply that it's completed, finished and ready for the end user. This requires additional work.

It is simply done, when it's done and the team is satisfied with the result.

The 9250 shouldn't take up that much more electricity than a 7500. I swaped out an ATI 7000/32 in favor of a 9250SE/128 and the uptake of my Efika system kept more or less constant (a change of about 1W). While I don't know the uptake of the 7500 I cannot image the difference to be a big issue.
The poweruptake of my Efika's 9250SE is in the range of 6-8 W during normal operation. Strong 3D operations (WipeOut 2097) lead to a power uptake increase of plu 5 W).
But I also think there are several revisions of the R280 chip.

btw.: disabling enhanced display is easy. Then no hardware acceleration is used anymore. I think your issues are probably off different origin. I rather assume that your 7500 got faulty. Have you tried back then whether the system run diffrently stable depending on which OS you actualy booted? Did issues remain regarless of enhanced display turned on or off?

So I request, if it is not too much to ask, that users have a user-friendly option, to turn off all the 3D stuff cleanly and entirely. If necessary, this option could be accompanied by a discouraging or warning message.

Just disable enhanced disable in per screen setup for all screens and it 3d is disabled. I guess as simple checkbox is as user friendly as a checkbox can be.

As much as I hate to drag this thread away from the subject of Andreas, I was thinking is there anyway we could (helpfully) encourage a release of MorphOS for the Powermacbook, such as paying in advance for it? *

*Also, G5 Powermacs??? just asking.. 8-)

I think you are mixing PowerBook and PowerMac again ? We definitely won't start any prepayment schemes, that is for sure.
We will release more hardware support when we consider it ready for release. And G5 is totally out of the picture for now, it's nothing but a proof of concept currently...

MorphOS 2.7 will just be a minor bug fix release to address various cpu/booting issues on PowerMacs. We considered it to be released ASAP even though we unfortunately couldn't fix all problems that came up.
No need for any wild guesses, really. We already said that release is planned for end of November. You will know soon if that is going to happen.
Actually, the thread topic was wrong from the very start and I wonder why some people try to raise attention that way. A topic like "My fantasy wishlist for the next MorphOS release" would have been more appropriate.

I'm not offended by that. I regret that a comment that was meant to be humorous has been used to attack Andreas.

I'm sure he's aware that I don't credit him with the ability tp divine anything. Instead, by carefully reasearching topics from different sources and analysing the information, he's been able to come up with some logical conclusions that others have missed.

I've relied on Andreas' references, information, and opinions and will continue to do so as he has a great record of being right (most of the time).

I don't take anything Amigans have said to me to heart (except maybe for a few posts by Gunnar at the Natami forum). For the most part, interacting with you all is informative and intellectually stimulating.

Only if you make an obviously wrong statement or challenge his character.

Then he's more persistant than a pit bull.

Huh? Why should I "rant" about anything that is completely in line with what I wrote before?

Many years ago, the world was about to end because there would me no more four-byte addresses. Then, some dude came up with NAT...

In which network do you live, that it's already using six-byte addresses? Does it coexist with regular ones?I 've never came across any IPv6 network.
