Thanks for the link to the show schedule.

For those interested in the MorphOS seminar that is scheduled at 11am on Saturday, I have requested to have it moved to a later time, perhaps on Sunday, to give me more time to resolve some issues. I will post here to let you know of the revised seminar date/time, if my request is granted.

Also, I have some bad news. Acill is not able to get off work, like he thought he would be able to do, so he will not be attending the show with me, or be able to assist with the seminar, or Q&A session afterward at my display table.

    David,
I don't suppose you could post some video for those of us who aren't going to be able to attend?

Yes, the presentation will be at Noon on Sunday, thanks to the AmiWest organizers for honoring my request to adjust the schedule and provide me with a later time and date.

I am posting this from my G4 PowerMac at the show using Odyssey 1.14 and will have more updates during the rest of the show after I finish setting up the rest of my systems and finish installing other software I want to present/demo.

If any of you have suggestions on which apps, or games would be good to have running during the show, please post your suggestions here.

    Back to work!

Dave, Papyrus? ;) No, the jerks don't answer my emails and never sent me a manual.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein would be great but you need the PC releases, and it's probably an ambitious undertaking if you haven't installed and tweaked it yet.

You might show some classic Amiga software if you have it handy, for that great nostalgia effect, however if I were you I'd relax, touch up my desktop, and focus on being smooth and looking good with what you have ready.

And of course Odyssey and mPlayer GUI and perhaps VLC at the highest res you can manage.

I have the CD for Descent II - Destination Quartzon with me for the PC, is this the game that has been ported to MorphOS, but the user has to provide the data files to play it?

Don't know if I will have time to install and configure it, unless it is an easy installation with a script, or directions on how to do it.

Wat do you guys think about the new OS4 capable netbook could it be somthing for MorphOS to suport, so that we can have a dualboot laptop?

Yes, Descent II is one of the many games that have been ported to MorphOS, but the user has to provide the data files to play them. According to Wikipedia, the "Destination Quartzon" data files cover only the first 8 levels of the full game. To know if those reduced data files work with the MorphOS port I'm afraid you'll have to try them yourself with the MorphOS binary:

Yes, as the e300c0 core is already supported by MorphOS in the Efika 5200B it shouldn't be that hard to extend that support to the newer e300c4 core which I think is the e300 variant at the heart of the announced OS4 netbook.

Yet more "OS4 will support soon" stuff, I believe it when I see it working AND it is readily available at the proposed price.

The announced OS4 netbook is said to already be available to retail customers, not something that is currently being designed, or is only available in prototype stage. Perhaps Andreas_Wolf, or Jim can sniff out which netbook that is already out there this mysterious OS4 netbook could be with the limited information that has been given out by Steve Solie?

I can't understand why they would not just tell us what it is, since it is already out "in the wild".

I outlined my suspicion some hours ago over there:

    https://morph.zone/modules/newbb_plus/viewtopic.php?topic_id=7014&forum=11&start=43

That would also explain the contradiction between Hermans claiming "hardware development is [...] 100% completed" and HJF only mentioning "prototypes", i.e. the 9" version would be the one that's been available for years already (example) while the 12" version would be what the OS4 developers have as prototypes. That's assuming the announced OS4 netbook is really based on the LimeBook of course.

Edit: There may not even exist a 12" version.

Thanks for the heads-up, although thought it was a video-only stream for a few minutes there - guess someone forgot to plug in a cable.

AmigaDave: YOU ARE ROCKIN' IT!! Laire should make you a partner for that presentation. Not like Fab of course, but some junior partner status. Cool Mountain Dew t-shirt, I figure I'll go listen to Johnny Cash.

IMO Acill should've showed up. "Couldn't get off work" is an okay excuse, but kind of last minute.

If you're interested I streamed it to my W7 laptop via my tethered Droid. In a four bars 3G area it worked with no stutter. Technology has advanced and so have networks. Looking forward to M3, and I figure the MT ought to start sorting out a strategy for new PPC hardware.

methinks it sprang to mind a little too quickly. Must've been those classy Union Jack motif'ed outfits. Set a new watermark in taste they did..
