In this video change all cover, the difficult part is change just the white top with the apple logo, maybe the ruuds idea is better.

I dissasembly my mac mini more than one time and i use two butter knives and a cutter, is close to your video.

I've been pondering the replacement cover idea. I was wondering whether as a lot of used mac minis are either yellowed, scatched or both on top that a high quality sticker that covered the whole of it wouldn't be the best option.
I'm going to create some mockups to see what people think.

I had forgotten that, but did you notice that I did take the time to find and link the video of how to open the MacMini? I am a lazy ba$tard, but do find stuff for myself (sometimes).

I think a sticker that covers the entire top except the brushed aluminum edge would be a good idea to cover the yellowed top and any scratches.

Only that someone (I think on the Dev Team) said in this thread that most of the port was already finished and that the release should happen before the end of this year.

The only solid (?) hints regarding release dates in this thread have been from pega-1 on page 1:
    Quote:

Well, it's very likely that you will be able to get the MacMini G4 release of MorphOS this year.

and more recently on page 20:
    Quote:

Well, I think that it will be released this year still holds true :)
    ...
Actually, the mac mini core driver components are ready for quite a while now (except wifi & bluetooth - which I wouldnt really consider core, anyway) and we have a closed beta tester group for quite some time as well.

Believe it or not I've just read through 22 pages of this stuff.. there's half an hour of my life I'll never get back. Amusing for the most part though..

Just picked up my MM today: 1.5GHz, 1GB RAM, 80GB HD, Airport&Bluetooth, and Bluetooth KB/Mouse, including OSX install disks for 175GBP. It's a beautiful little machine.. The bluetooth KB/Mouse may be handy for use with the PS3, I'll get a nice wireless USB KB/mouse for the MM. Am looking forward to installing MorphOS when it's released, no rush guys..

[EDIT] - Will Morphzone ever support the GBP pound sign?!

Have any of you opened up your Mini yet? What tips do you have for opening the case without any damage or scratches?

Here's a good step by step tutorial:

    http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Mac-mini-Model-A1283/659/1

It covers Intel Mac minis as well, but the procedure for opening the shell is pretty much the same for every model.

    Hope it helps.

PS. I opened my mini several times already, including total stripdown to the bare motherboard, replacing RAM, optical drive, Airport and so on. It's not that complicated after few times :)

Wow - the Mac-mini is around 1/27 the size of my A4000T (3x depth, 3x width, 3x height).

    It's a really pretty system :-)

AFAIK all the "stop that crappy sound" proggies work in a similar way:

On shutdown they mute the Mac.
After power-on jingle is (not)played at this volume.
During boot volume is reseted to the last value the user had set before the last shutdown.

So even if there was an MorphOS proggie doing the same, you would allways need to do a proper shutdown instead of the Amiga-typical plug-pulling.

Another solution would be to set the Macs volume to 0 and than use an USB-Audio-dongle supported by Poseidon....

Well you could put the Deneb in a noisy A4000 (like mine is) which is next to the mac mini and use the sound of the A4000 to drown out the startup sound ;-)

It looks like the startup sound is part of the POST, rather than controlled through openfirmware.
I was hoping that there may be a "set-env oem-sound" or some-such, but it seems not...
