    That is funny.
    What are they offering?
So far the only cloud applications I've found useful were the free ones from Google.

They were offering according to the description:

"Project Metropolis Developer Program One Year Membership. [...] Includes FTP access to upload your application once complete. Ad space on the DiscreetFX website. Downloadable Demo version if developer makes it available. Marketing by DiscreetFX depending on the App. Developer program is for commerical applications only. Free applications should be uploaded to AmiNet."

"Project Metropolis is available now from its developer http://jackforamigaos.wordpress.com/ "

    Also there:
    http://www.amiga.org/forums/showpost.php?p=734001

So it seems Project Metropolis is Jack(forAmigaOS). Does this mean that Project Metropolis was in fact already launched imperceptibly in September 2012 and all those subsequent launch announcements were just distractions? If so, why the hell?

As I explained, the software has been publicly available since September 2012 and hasn't got a newer release since. To me it seems that something doesn't match here. Or how can Project Metropolis be released only today when the software that constitutes Project Metropolis has been available unchanged for months?

Funny that they can afford an ad in Amiga Future without having anything at all to show for it. I mean, what was the point, really?

Apparently, the point was soliciting funds.

They never really made that clear.

I think the assumptions about Jack might be right.

That DiscreteFX online store and "Project Metropolis" just represents the latest version of Jack.

Or did I mis-read that Andreas?.

I'm not sure, maybe just language barrier. At least I don't see any assumption when the DiscreetFX CEO is quoted clearly stating that Project Metropolis is Jack. Or do you mean that he makes assumptions about his own "products"? If so, I guess the author of Jack should be notified about what assumptions are made about his software ;-) And when you say they "might be right", do you consider it possible that the DiscreetFX CEO lied and just made up that Project Metropolis had anything to do with Jack?

OK, "assumptions" is a poor word.
But since it is Jack, why isn't it available now?

    > since it is Jack, why isn't it available now?

Seems we're still talking past each other. I'll try again:
According to yesterday's announcement by the DiscreetFX CEO and on the Project Metropolis website, Project Metropolis has become available yesterday. So, it *is* available apparently. Now, where things don't match is that when Project Metropolis is actually Jack, then Project Metropolis must have been available since September 2012 at least, as that's when the current version 3.2.5 of Jack has become available. If that's the case, then why all the release postponing nonsense during the subsequent months? I can't make any sense of this.
It would have been different if yesterday had seen a new Jack release (3.2.6 or 3.3 or 4.0) to mark the launch of Project Metropolis. But there was none.

Ah, I really do need to read your information dense posts more carefully.
    Yes that is confusing.
It has been available, no update has been made, so why now?
Just another bit of Amigas weirdness.

I can clear it up for you easy. Jack has been available for some time. Project Metropols is Jack with special GFX branding, that was not available until recently. It's all down to the marketing.
