Beside the AGP slot, it has either 33 MHz PCI slots or 100/133 MHz PCI-X slots, depending on the exact model. In the former case, the 66 MHz PCI card would run underclocked to 33 MHz, while in the latter case, the 66 MHz PCI card would run at full speed with the 100/133 MHz PCI-X slot automatically being underclocked to 66 MHz.

On a reasonable basis, I hope for shaders support on gfx front, hw accel. on sdl2 and updated ffmpeg so we can use aiostreams which supports many streaming services.

Far fetched dream would be Open/Libre Office and a significant update on the 64x port. I don't think that supporting even more PPC setups truly benefits and expands the user base, imo.

On a personal level, hope our combined efforts with jPV will become fruitful on the first days of January. Over the last months I have learned so much with his help and hope to still find time and develop some simple apps within 2021 which I have in mind, now that I am on fire :P

My expectations:

Most already mentioned. I think the situation of MorphOS is still surprisingly good. The OS gets supplied with steady updates and gets better and better. We got a new powerful browser. Things could be worse.
My only major concern is the switch to x64. I know it's helluvalot of work, but the ppc machines are aging and in conjunction with massive web usage show their limited cpu power. Hence, my hope is to see some progress on x64.

And I hope to contribute to the software pool of MorphOS in 2021 more fequently than I did 2020.

Looks like you are a great ARM/RPI advocate, I have nothing against it (is modern, so good), but I know the platform very little.

Better 1 ARM than no leg to stand on???


a) that decision has been made some time ago and zigzagging between ARM and AMD is a sure way to make sure nothing gets ever done for real

b) Linux on rPI/ARM relies on a binary blob for GFX drivers that might not be useable for MorphOS

c) the only ARM HW that is readily available around AMD/Intel performance is the Apple M1/nix/Pro/Max and as much as I would like that idea I somehow doubt it would be feasible

AMD? ARM? I'd settle for it being for my slow and old powerpc. :)

I'm still for AMD64, but eventually I don't care that much as long as the hardware has enough grunt to power modern webbrowsing conveniently and the hardware is easily available and has at least a remotely competetive price tag.

Some news/progress in that regard would be cool for 2022.

The current ppcs are just too weak- I find myself spending more and more time with the phone or windows laptop.

Nothing new on the graphics card front though. And the x64 idea seems completely stalled. Not even some info about it.

I more and more get the feeling that time just slips away, and the dream of a new NG MorphOS will never come true.

If one feels up to it and like to develop MorphOS, can do it as part of MOSTeam. I do not think will be rejected if he's a good developer. This is our misfortune at this point, we don't have too many people ready to take care of it - open source is the wrong way.
