or not, you don't forget Linux, Haiku etc., on x86 the Commodore fell only changed the situation, because with the PPC machines other OS will be possible.

Current ownership of this most contentious former property of Commodore only becomes more difficult to determine -

Eben Upton (the RPi guy) asks about kickstart licensing on amiga.org

I'm still kind of curious about whether or not he got a definitive answer...

    Ah, let em sue.
Then we can find out if there's any evidence that they even have a legal right to claim ownersip.

My guess is that the current parties who claim this right have merely mutually agreed to this idea.

I thought Heavy Metal died out about the same time Commodore did? Who listens to Heavy Metal music anymore?

Just kidding, I am just too old to have ever appreciated Heavy Metal music and I can't stand Rap music. I can't wait for some other popular form of music to come forward, that I will hopefully like more than Heavy Metal, or Rap music.

As for the topic of this thread, I don't think it is even worth discussing. If you see the responses that the original poster is getting on AW.net (and I think he is getting the same negative response even on A.org,, which is mostly run by a dozen of lunatic members that never get moderated), It appears that even most of the OS4.x and Classic Amiga users are against the comments made by the OP.

I don't know why people feel the need to stir up trouble, when there has been a fair amount of cooperation and not much fighting between camps on forum sites lately.

Maybe he was bored and needed some excitement in his life, and thought that stirring the pot of hatred between users of different Amiga inspired systems would satisfy his needs.

Sad, really sad to see such behavior in 2012.

I can't seem to find any of those threads started by that Polish guy on amigaworld.net and/or on amiga.org. Can you help out with links please?

I got this thread mixed up with a different one, when I saw the title with the words OS4.x fanboy and illegal.

    @thread

i understand where chris is coming from, well, sort of, but you won't find anyone else out there who feels similarly. no one really cares. besides if people want to make their environments look like another, then more power to them. i don't see why they don't just run the original, but that's their business.

Just to clear some possible misunderstanding:
This thread has not been about ChrisH's ramblings on amigaworld.net but about some dude's (Simon 'st' Tomzik) article on Polish exec.pl website. Just click the text in the initial posting by redrumloa to get to the translated article.
That said, I surely have no objections to including the topic of ChrisH's ramblings into this thread :-)

I can appreciate all kinds of music except RAP because RAP is not music, you need instruments to make music. Extreme heavy metal is just my favorite type of music. In 2012 it must be Poland as the best country putting out extreme metal. On whole, the USA might have the worst heavy metal these days. There is some good, but the volume of bad is just sad.

Choral? Gospel? Philip Glass's "Clapping music"?

I'm not a massive officianado of rap, but it has progressed beyond the bitches and ho's stuff (not to mention Blondie). There's a lot of good British rap/hip-hop/associated stuff around over the last few years.

Cannot agree exactly. From what I found on youtube that guy's music sounds pretty similar as Trance already sounded when I was at the loveparade (or other techno parties) during the nineties. For what's currently going on on the electronic and experimental side I suggest the releases by Kompakt (Cologne based label), most of the stuff they release is rather good. But it's not exactly Trance, rather modern Krautrock/Ambient.

    Some typical examples:

Well, indeed not "hardcore" or "heavy" trance in any way, and yes it's a reflection of the "nineties" in a way. And that is perfectly in within my personal scope! :-)

This spring, Armin van Buuren celebrated 550 online broadcasts of his "A State of Trance", and made a world wide tour out of it. There were big performances in several cities; London (UK), Moscow (RU), Kiev (UA), Los Angeles (USA), Miami (USA), and Den Bosch (NL). Beside Armin himself, there were *many* great music producing DJ's invited to play at all these events, see the list here:

    http://www.astateoftrance.com/a-state-of-trance-550

I listened through most of it, and this was my favorite: Armin van Buuren, Day 2, Moscow:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yee4a2ibmI (about 1,5 hour long)

I kind of liked that! :-)

Thanks for your suggestions! :-) That first link was in both audio and video quite cool. It kind of reminded me of computer "demos" back in the days. Very cool that way! :-)

Ambient isn't really my cup of tea though, and doesn't really represent "evolution" of the electronic music genre for me (like you suggested I think), rather kind of a fork. ;-)

    Quote:

That's what makes the world so beautiful! :-)

Anyway, it's not like that I don't appreciate some "metal". I love all old-school Iron Maiden stuff, and all the other classic bands. I also listen to Rammstein (although I don't like all the political lyrics, but that's easy enough for me to ignore, since I don't understand German that much (only a little)) :-)
