    Is there a separate link to download and install the upgrade from 3.0 to 3.1? Upgrade instructions?

    No separate download for a 3.1 upgrade. All versions of MorphOS since version 2.1 have upgraded simply by running the installation process and choosing the "upgrade" option, instead of the "new installation" option, at the beginning of the installation process. Just as simple as choosing the right button to click on. New installation button is on the left and upgrade button is on the right, IIRC.

    The MorphOS Development Team is great at making MorphOS easy to install and also easy to upgrade. You don't even have to burn the latest MorphOS ISO, as you can use the "Mounter" tool to mount the iso file, or you can burn the iso to a CD-R, or CDRW and insert it into the optical drive and boot from it to begin the installation/upgrade process.

    Welcome to the best Next Gen. Amiga platform, where MorphOS = Next Generation Amiga done RIGHT!

    1. Extract boot.img from ISO, rename to boot31.img.
    2. Put both ISO and image to root of previous morphos installation.
    3. Boot directly from ISO with string like this (for Pegasos in my case): boot /pci/ide/disk@0:0 boot31.img bi=DH0:morphos-3.1.ISO
    4. PROFIT!

    P.S. Reboot after update and boot31.img and ISO no longer needed - delete it.

    Is there a way to boot from the ISO to upgrade a Powerbook installation?

    Cheers

    I followed your instructions by launching installation, selecting update installation and after several attempts (the system was looking for a USB drive that I had in my computer and which I never removed, but for some reason couldn't see it), I got to the windows were it downloaded (or that I prefer to think), several (many) files. It took approximate 5-10 minutes to download and install all files. At then I got a message saying that "Installation of MorphOS 3.0 was completed." BUT THEN AGAIN I DID NOT DO A NEW INSTALLATION.

    In any case I'm still showing MorphOS 3.0 under "About MorphOS."

    Any suggestions for someone with entry level skills can follow?

    Now as you will also notice in my reply above, my posts do not show the quoted message, but blank spaces. This also happens with my old posts.

    Is there any way to restore my installation without cauing morer problems? Or what other recommendations I can follow?

    I'll appreciate any help given on above points.

    Download the morphos-3.1.iso, burn it on a blank CD (right click on it and choose "Burn"), then restart and:

    1. Providing you've got a Mac computer - press C on the keyboard and hold it until the machine starts from CD

    2. Providing you've got a Pegasos II computer - press Esc during OF initialization and type: boot cd boot.img

    You should boot to 3.1 (mind the splash screen - if it's still 3.0 then don't bother with installation and check what you've done wrong).

    More detailed instructions are here.

    @ koszer - Thank you. That's what I thought I was going to have to do. I will do that tomorrow though; it's almost midnight here in the Pacific West coast of Canada.

    Do I have to copy the Morphos key back to C:Devs/ after installation?

    @WeiXing3D:

    There are a few ways to upgrade without need to burn a CD, and I thing most of advanced MorphOS users do so. But for a newcomer I guess a CD is the easiest way.

    @ koszer - One more question: Do I have to run a whole new installation?

    BTW, in my previous attempts, I only clicked the update installation option and everything went downhill from there, and with above described prompts.

    You will be given two options: A completely new installation or an upgrade. The choice is yours (I guess most of MorphOS users just upgrade their previous installation. At least it never gave me any trouble).

    WeiXing3D,

    I don't know if it has anything to do with your problem now, but didn't you recently replace your installer with a 68K installer? If you did, I hope you remember to put the original one back.

    Seems quote is broken on Firefox too. Just press quote-button and paste the text you desire to be quoted between the tags.

    Hi there! Has anyone been able to boot a Powerbook with the MOS 3.1 ISO from a FAT-formatted USB pendrive?

    I've been trying but it doesn't work!

    on openfirmware:

    boot usb1/disk@1:,\boot.img bi usbscsi0:morphos-3.1.iso

    Suggestions? Thanks!

    @koszer - After I did a fresh new installation OWB is working again and I can use Gmail too.

    But I noticed a few problmes are still lingering with the upgrade to 3.1:
    1. As you can see in this message, the "quote" functionality when replying posts is not longer working. It has been reported by someone esle above that this is also happening with Firefox
    2. Everytime I launch Oddissey, the application looks for and loads the fonts. This was never the case with 3.0
    3. I'm unable to run the game Foobillard (error message: Need version 11 of powersdl.library). I tried installing the game using Grunch (which took 2 attemps to install) and from the Downloads link in this forum.

    It is importnat to note that I didn't encounter any problems wehn I did a new fresh installation of MOS 3.1 and I didn't receive any error messages duirng and after installation either. Of course, I already copy the morphos key back from my backup to DEVS

    This upgrade is proving to be a pain in the royal!!!

    @Papiosaur,

    Umm... That skin is called "Zawijas" and you can download a beta here. Report me if you ecounter any problems with it.

    @WeiXing3D

    1. Yes, the "quote" is not working ATM. I've checked with OWB 1.10 and it doesn't work either. I guess it's the site, not the browser.
    2. That's strange. Are you sure you start the same OWB every time? There should be a "font(somecharactershere).cache" file in OWB/Conf/font
    3. You should install PowerSDL library (I guess)

    Probably morphos-files.net is the best place you should start your search. Extract the archive and run the installer script (this time the process should be painless).
