    Hi All,

I just finally bought a MorphOS license for my Mac mini! This represents my first proper "next gen" Amigalike system.

I've been fiddling around with MorphOS since the Mac mini version was released, but I'm only just now comfortable enough with it to use it as my regular desktop system. I have nothing against AROS and AOS4, in fact I rather like them, but today MorphOS seems to me to be the best balance between speed, cost, and features.

Anyway, just wanted to mention my new purchase, and warn of the upcoming questions I'm bound to have! ;-)

    Hello gleng,

    Welcome to MorphOS communauty ;-)

If you want i can place you on World map of MorphOS users.
You can try too the pack Ultimate 1.5.5 for MorphOS available on this link:

    Pack Ultimate 1.5.5

I precise it's not an official pack.
You must extract the archive on new installation of MorphOS 2.4 (a partition of 1 gigaoctets is recommended).
    Thanks for your return.

    bye

Welcome gleng! Enjoy the trip very much! It's very, very rare nowadays that people introduce themselves here, so yours gives great feeligs.

Hey Papiosaur, that "gigaoctets" term is very very very FRENCH! :-D

    Thanks for the welcome!

I've downloaded the Pack Ultimate. How clean does the MorphOS install have to be before I install the Pack? I've so far installed a few libraries, apps, and MUI classes. I'm not against doing a fresh install.

My key's turned up in my email inbox too, so I'll try it out when I get home. :-)

This is no tool to cleanup MorphOS.

If you want to install the pack, you can do before a backup of your partition, copy simply all files in a drawer in a other partition.

Happy installation of the pack ;-)

    Welcome.

I'm quite new myself and currently downloading the pack. Will re-install Morphos and try this out. So far, all I had added was OWB 1.7, RDesktop, a few other things that didn't work and a small hollywood game. So I don't mind starting over.

I'm just getting familiar with the OS at this point. It might take me a while. :-)

    Papiosaur,

I just finished installing the pack.

    C'est super!

This "pack ultimate" saved me a lot of time rather than trying to install some of those apps on my own.

    Great add-on. Thanks!

@ Fester : I'm happy if you like it ;-)

This night (at 3h02) i have uploaded a new archive with corrections:

    - add new Amigift icon in png format (show now in PolyNet)
    - add packicon by patbest in storage drawer.

    Thanks for your returns

Hey Papiosaur, does your Pack Ultimate allow the user to choose things, or it's a simpler, copy everything affair?

For me, I even miss that feature in the very original MorphOS iWizard setup. I had to remove things (huge wallpapers, for example) that I didn't want and got installed beforehand.

By the way, it's very funny removing them WHILE the installation is ongoing... It does NOT fail because of that!

    Lovely MorphOS, in every regard!

@ jcmarcos : for the moment the pack is a big archive to extract on a new installation of MorphOS 2.4

beworld realise an installer script for the pack.

For futur version of the installer, i think the user will can choose to install differents party of the pack (differents sets of icons, wallpapers, etc..)

Your work on your meta pack is admirable. I think the fact that its just a big archive holds users back from using it. If you implemented an installer so that the user can choose what to install it would work a lot better :) Keep up the good work.

Having fun so far! I haven't really run into any problems yet.

I didn't install the whole of the ultimate pack, but I unpacked it and took all the bits I wanted from it. So it was really handy that way. I've been finding apps for most of the things I want to do.

I got smbfs working, so I can access my big file store hard drive on my other computer. I'm now trying to get UAE and some other emulators set up.

What are people using for a word processor? I tried to get AmigaWriter set up, but it kept complaining about missing fonts. NoWinEd seems nice. Is there a port of Latex for typesetting?

Overall, I'm just mostly tweaking the system to make it comfortable, and generally fiddling around with the settings because I can. :-)

AmigaWriter works here. I don't remember if I had problems with fonts or not.. probably just copied my installation from A1200 and it worked. I use FinalWriter, AmigaWriter or PageStream depending the mood and task. And CED for simple text editing.

Yeah, it takes some time to get system working as you prefer. And as MorphOS offers more options than Amiga, you'll find your new favourite options too :)

    Another new user here :)
Thanks a lot for the big pack.
I had an almost fresh install of Mos2.4, and I just unpacked the archive, and copied all the files over. The system looks much nicer now, and the dock is cool.

Brilliant. I was going to grab the SDK anyway. I'll download it tonight and give it a try. Thanks! :-)
