    Hi all,

Am I going mad or does Amiga-M (Or Apple-M) not switch screens like on 3.1?

Oh yep, sorted, it was set to mmb (which I don`t have of course) - fixed now.

    Thanks for that.

edit: I think it may have been some kind of OWB conflict as amiga-M was bringing up the bookmarks.

No there are no conflicts, as right and left are different keys.

You can define LCOMMAND, RCOMMAND or COMMAND. Usually LCOMMAND is used for such stuff, while RCOMMAND is/should be used only for menu items due historical reasons.

Thats why keyboards with just one COMMAND key are a big problem. E.g. on an iBook there is only one COMMAND key, which is used for menu item control. Otherwise it would render menu hotkeys useless and they are more required as standard dictates several hotkeys for printing, about application, quit application, hide application, open file, ...

I see. I didn`t think of that as my chops are a little rusty and I never used menu shortcuts anyway.

Yeah, Ultimate Pack sets it to MMB, which isn't that good, because it conflicts with several other things (Ambient's inline editing still defined to MMB too and doesn't work because of that, scrolling in MUI programs with MMB doesn't work either etc).

Anyway with plain MorphOS it's defined as lcommand-m by default.

Personally ever found MMB to switch screens a very powerful way to do it. LCOMMAND + M is slow, tricky ans less comfortable. I have been using MMB for 20 years and I would never change it.
Ambient online editing can be easily configured/done holding LMB and personally is a trick that I use so many less times than switching screens...

So Papiosaur, my vote goes to MMB even if this would not change the fact that now a lot of people will come here and tell the opposite :-)

MMB may be a better choice in the end but as an old schooler I just instinctively reached for amiga-M. I need to get a decent mouse for this Powerbook anways or Bigfoot will shotgun me into oblivion before I even see him hop around the corner

While I understand your preference I suggest not to change default behaviour of the OS with the ultimate pack. I think it targets to novices and fresh installations - it should mess up as little as possible.
If you look something up for MorphOS on google you'll probably find an answar to the default behaviour. If I google "morphos flip screen" I'll get the answer left CMD+m. Now if the pack changed this to MMB, this answer will not work and I will probably come to the concluson something is b0rked.
Hence, better don't change OS behaviour within such a package.

The IControl preferences editor let you set several hotkeys for a single one action.
So it's possible to keep the default lcommand-m and to *add* a mmb hotkey.

It's what I have and what would be a perfect solution for Ultimate pack.

    @Fraggle
Are you using the powerbook without a mouse connected? You're a brave man! :-)
