    Hello,

i have to changed my hard drive and i plug a 500GB HD into my Pegasos2.
It's correctly reconized by OF and MorphOS (HDConfig).
I made partitions when a bubble said "This partition is too large for the selected filesystem" (SFS).

The bubble disapear when size is under 124GB.

In MorphOS 2.4 release notes say :
SFS : Fixed broken disk formatting code with disks larger than 124GB

So, what is the maximum partition size with SFS ?
    Wich FileSystem is better ?

    Thanks

    128GB here.

Guess that depends on your needs, using FFS/SFS/PFS3 here.

I haven't tried to use it massively for MorphOS apps but couldn't ext2/3 partitions work correctly? It should allow big partitions and files.

Ext2/3 partitions wouldn't have this limit, and as a bonus, they also support >4GB files. The drawback being they don't handle all amigaos attributes, of course.

perhaps marek could hack ext2 to add amigaos attributes (even if it stopped being compatible with ext2/3), add a new filesystem identifier and label it "MarekFileSystem"

Another option would be increasing the sizes allowed in the SFS structures so it allows bigger partitions and files and label it SFS3 (add a new filesystem identifier so SFS partitions are handled through normal SFS...).

I think future MorphOS versions will need an updated filesystem as standard.

I'm pretty sure it's been said that SFS can't be changed to support larger partitions due to the way its designed.
