I've been having this really strange problem with my PegasosII running Morphos2.2. I've been trying to use the png wallpapers that come with Morphos but I frequently (but not all the time) get the message that the background couldn't be loaded by the datatypes subsytem. Some times I'll select the picture with the file requester and it'll appear as the backdrop behind the Ambient prefs window but when I select use or save it'll vanish and i'll then get the same error message as before. If I keep trying I can get usually eventually get the picture I want to stay on the background. To try and get to the bottom of the problem I tried viewing the wallpapers with other programs and I get similar problems. If I try and view one of the wallpaper directories as thumbnails a selection of them will appear correctly but some will stay as the def icon. If I select back to icons and then back again to thumbnails I'll get a slightly different selection appear correctly. The problem appears to be quite inconsistant. I also find that jpeg images frequently come out looking a mess in OWB, such as the ones takemehomegrandma linked to showing Morphos on a Powerbook.
I tried booting from my install CD and that produced similar problems so I presumed the problem was caused by a faulty install disc. So I re-downloaded the iso and burnt a new one. I booted from this and all worked correctly so I used the update option to replace my mossys: files. When I rebooted it seemed like the problem was corrected (including the jpeg problem) and all worked fine yesterday. But today when I turned my Peg on the problem is back! I tried booting from my new install CD and that now has the problem too! So I'm really puzzled and really annoyed because I thought I'd cracked it. Is it some kind of hardware issue? I'm using a Radeon 9250se 64bit 128MB graphics card at the moment but I get the same problem with a Radeon 9200se I've got as well.
I hope I've explained my problem clearly enough and I would be most grateful to anyone who can shed some light on this.
Thanks,
Rudi.
