Its been a great, what 20+ years with some kind of Amiga in my home, and now with my Pegasos out of the house and in a new home its time for me to say goodbye. I want to thank everyone I've known from old to new for making this such a great platform to own and use. I cant think of any other platform that has done anything even close to what we all do.

I may pop in from time to time to see how things are going, but its time to let the past go and move forward.

Oh and I've had a ton of messages asking what changed my opinions so fast after getting home. I would have to say it was several things over the years, but the price of MorphOS with its restrictive hardware lock to one machine was the final draw for me if I had to pick one thing.

It's not right..... There something is not going right...
I was thinking about this a couple of days ago. After the MOS 2.0 debut many users decided to sell their Peg and go. Sad that some of them are old users... Sincerely, I thought to stop too... Maybe the Peg crash, maybe interests changes and time passes... This kind of ideas crossed my mind, really.
Don't know why... But I've no intentions to follow my thoughts for the moment.
I hope to resist, I hope all of us could resist..
I hope something in the near future could change this strange situation... MOS and Amiga users need much more than Mac, Linux and Win... They need a point of reference, they need to trust.
    They deserve it.
Acill, I wish you all the good things I can imagine and I hope you will be back!

    Enjoy!

That's really sad Acill. I hope that you don't regret this and start searching for a Pegasos2 system again in the near future as I did.

A lot of users among us said they would leave because of mos2.0 price (including myself), but we are only pitiful amislaves. You had the guts to do it, congratulations.

My wife had bought me an new Apple Imac (with 4GB memory).
Well, it's a nice and fast machine with a lot of nice programs. But....
I'm still using my old Pegasos (for money reasons I've now to stick on Morphos 1.4.5.)
Perhaps I have to go back to Apple and ask for another apple because it crashes two times a day and i'm still struglling with the OS. It doesn't react as fast as my Pegasos and I miss the control over what happens. Everything is automated and everytime I'm confused and have to look for what the Apple is doing.
Pages is nice program but Pagestream, even the old version 4.1, is really better. iPhoto is also really nice but I like Showgirls more, though it is little bit slower.
Oke, Internet on the Imac is great, Ibrowse and Sputnik don't have the posibilities of Safari or Firefox, but especially Ibrowse is fast and rocks. And Yam is really a great program, just like MuiBase (free only for Morphos). If you want to see movies, MPlayer is great but with MPlyer on Morphos you can see parts of the movie even if MlDonkey has downloaded les then 20%!!!

Untill now I use my APPLE for internet, Lilypond (a musicscore-editor) and playing, but my Pegasos for serious work.

The thing I feared most is the end of the motherboard of my Pegasos. I'm waiting for the new Pagestream-version for Apple, untill then I will have to use my Pegasos for the real work and my Apple for playing....

    Regards Tom

IIRC Acill did so in the past already.

I'd never do something theatric like a *final* good bye. I may leave today (well, don't applaude too early, I'll probably stay for a while) but I'd never know if I come back tomorrow?
    Or let's get quite hypothetical:
What when/if MorphOS3.0 comes out tomorrow, running on a virtually every hardware for no charge? Would you still stay absent - saying: 'No i am am a man of principles, I once and forever decided to *finally* leave!!'...?
Anyway, don't get me wrong mate: have fun, stay tuned (pop in every now and then) and enjoy your Cannondale bike (just like I did my Specialized for a few hundret kilometers this sunny weekend).
It's just that i don't like this theatric moves too much.

    > MuiBase (free only for MorphOS)

That's not true now and never was. The first version becoming GPL'ed was for AOS3 in March 2006 (v2.0). In September and November 2007 respectively the first AROS and MorphOS compiles were done (on the basis of the then recent v2.2.x for AOS3). In January 2008 with the advent of v2.3 an AOS4 version (again, on the basis of source for AOS3, of course) was added and the Windows and Linux versions became GPL'ed as well. So MUIbase is free for 6 operating systems as of now.

Thanks for the tip. A year go I tried to install it on the windows-computer of my wife and at that moment it was still with a keyfile. Now I can make databases on my Pegasos and send them to her, so she can use them on her own computer.

    regards Tom

Gee, thanks a lot! I came to this dump to see some stars shine, and now, one of them has decided to shoot-off into space!
... the price of MorphOS with its restrictive hardware lock to one machine was the final draw for me if I had to pick one thing.
Wasn't 'prioritizing' and closed architecture hardware the things that killed Commodore/Amiga?
Oh well, good luck on your new endeavors !
