What's in the pipeline for 2026 from a MorphOS POV then?

MorphOS 3.20 on a Mirari

- New SDK
- OpenGL 2.0
- USB3 support
- 4Gb support
- Hi-speed network
- New printer support in one place

Hmmm, hard to say will hopefully get some of my stuff over the finish line, public release of 3.20 this year seems like an certainty. Which would/should also make the Mirari available for mortals.

Also some hints and tidbits going around that could end up being nothing burgers or supersized BigMacs.

My 2026 shall be simple, to finally explore MorphOS to its fullest now that I seem to have the sound issue resolved BUT one since we are dreaming, a couple things.

AmigaOne X5K and local network transfers seems off. Small files that should takes seconds take minutes and little bit larger files takes MANY minutes... like 15 to 20. haha. Some of my older posts show this anomaly. I start a transfer and seems like an endless abyss and many times they stall. Just think a 50mb file takes ages. I see MorphOS on other platforms work fine so appears an X5K thing?

Emotion for MorphOS for easy movie playback. I used Emotion on X5K in AmigaOS and is very nice GUI and with nice video card drivers, 1080p or even higher play well.

Radeon 580 Driver so we can do very nice video playback for games and videos so I can ditch the ATI 1950 and use just 1 video card and not have to do 2 for my X5K.

An easy to use Video Creation Application like say iMovie for MorphOS so I can edit and export some of my YouTube content from my X5K running MorphOS.

I am sure I can think of more but 2026 will just be about finally exploring MorphOS for me.

And I Hope to finally get into (Hollywood) programming again, there are a few started Programms that should get some Love.

The very only one thing:
Leave the blind alley of PPC and go to amd64 / x86.

My expectations:
- Mirari
- Mos 3.20
- new Sdk
- Finally release Ermentrud international version
- maybe Mirari with Altivec

I hope for MorphOS 3.20 and new / updated applications.

I really hope my PowerBook G4 will survive the whole of 2026, so I can continue working on my game for MorphOS. An unexpected failure of my MOS machine would be a huge problem for me. :(

I also hope MorphOS 3.20 will be released with the latest TinyGL, so users don’t have to install a beta versions.

I would also like to see a really good, modern graphics application for MorphOS. But I know this is unrealistic, so I don’t include it in my expectations.

my expectations for the 2026... MorphOS supporting ARM or x86 ...

Guys, the majority of people hate M$ and their f#cking win11.
MorphOS is a much easier OS than Linux and it could be great for the old x86 machines and Raspberry.


Please do it.

My realistic and predictable expectations for MorphOS in 2026 are...

* MorphOS 3.20
* MorphOS to NOT switch to another architecture, for if they do, then people will lose another reason to continue using PowerPC Macs, we already have enough operating systems on the boring mainstream x86 platform
* Kronos's new panel revamp
* Jacadcaps's new program CellBasics
* Papiosaur and BeWorld porting more SDL2 games
* Mirari official release
* Papiosaur's new word processor, image viewer/slideshow, and ffmpeg GUI

My unrealistic expectations that perhaps only I can wish for:

* SheepShaver ported to MorphOS to emulate Mac OS 9 (we already have Basilisk II for 68k Mac OS, why not SheepShaver?)
* An updated, perfect, unmatched RSS client instead of IvoRSS and AmRSS
* MUI frontend for Mednafen as a competitor/alternative to RetroArch
* A native MorphOS Bittorrent client (currently I use the 68k AmigaOS3 software DizzyTorrent 2.22 which is on Aminet but MorphOS-Storage still has 2.20)
* A long-overdue update to Odyssey Web Browser (I know it's been superseded by Wayfarer but I still frequently use it on MorphOS)
* NetSurf 3.11 on MorphOS (it's already on AmigaOS), or some other web browser to use in addition to Wayfarer and OWB (one can never have too many web browsers)
* Gemini or Gopher client (I am unaware of any Gemini client compatible with MorphOS)
* Someone developing an alternative file manager like maybe WorkBench Explorer on os4depot
* A PROPER port of VLC Media Player, not that 0.8.6f version on morphos-storage.net
