I've succesfully tested TP-LINK WR702N nano router - it works OK even with the most "stubborn" WiFi that works neither with AirPort nor Atheros PCMCIA card in my PowerBook.
The idea is quite simple: nano router connects as a client to your WiFi, and the PowerBook connects to it by standard Ethernet cable. The downside is - it takes more space than PCMCIA card, and you lose 1 USB port (for powering up the router). Of course you could power it from a wall plug too, but then the 'portability' is gone.
