This has been something that has happened recently. I believe on an older Radeon 9000, the roms are fine and the graphics themselves are not corrupted, like it looks everything is shifted like crazy in lines. The game is still running and you can hear it just fine.

For example, find Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 - Turtles in Time that works with MAME, and if you have a newer Radeon card, you will see what I mean how it all shifts. I do have an official mac Radeon 9650 cardo on a Mac G4 MDD.

Hope someone might have some insight as to why it happens with newer ATi cards. Not all roms do it, but I noticed some do.

Fixed:

Somehow the overlay option on some games is ruined, so all you have to do is uncheck it and it is ok once again.

This is a known problem, because MAME doesn't handle the overlay modulo.
