I deleted the user posting the comments directly to genesi. this made the post "anonymous" (oops). The user was obviously a troll, but I don't want to leave the "poster" field anonymous.

Anyway, I moved the whole "No More BSD" thread to the phoenix forum (not on the front page) until I can figure out how to clean the mess up properly.

The messages themeselves are unaltered, but I'm itching to hit the kill button... Complaining about Genesi/bplan/developer-X is one thing, but to complain to MorphOS users (how is it YOUR fault ?!) as if they somehow did this is plain silly.

Anyway, I recon everyone wants the thread back, so I'm sure I'll come up with something when I wake up. (If Senex, Kronos, etc come up with a way to clean it up, they are more than welcome to move it back before the am.)

... grumble grumble.. I should have locked the account.. DOH!

My take is, delete those 2 messages, cos:

a) they have added nothing new to the discussion
b) no matter how valid your points might be, there are
still rules to follow. Free speech ends where basic
social rules are violated.
c) the poster is free to re-register, and to voice his
opinion in a civilzed manner.

Leave the comment, edit the "bunch of losers"-line away.

Leave it as it is.

I agree with Hooligan. (As my threshold for moderating comments seems to be above average in general.)

well, not surprisingly, i'm a big Freedom of Speech advocate.
If one person loses their Freedom to say what's on their mind (however stupid), we all do.

of course, this is your site, dave, so, you can do what you feel comfortable with.

Well, leaving it as is basically prevents the majority of the users here being able to see the thread. That's not good. Unless you mean to leave the name as anonymous.... I certainly don't feel like making a temporary account and retyping the guy's posts.

I don't know if I want to delete the posts either. While I feel the guy is barking up the wrong tree (does anyone here sign paychecks?), scathing comments can be "good in the long run."

I edited out the insult part and left every else alone. Hope this satisfies everyone.

If someone wants to insult us let em. HOnestly Im big on freedom of speech. About the only things i personally delete on my forums are profanity, anythign illeagle, and porn.

Well, I brought the forum back into a usable area, but haven't quite figured out how to fix this anonymous junk. Maybe I'll just edit the post to say "origianlly posted by jungleboogie."

In this example we have a very mild comment, one which perhaps wouldn't needed to be moderated at all. I did so as so far we have had everything running smoothly (didnt expect it to last forever anyway )

Well, I just didn't like the way the person was posting like everyone on this site is some kind of Genesi employee. Instead of "if they think they can... blah blah," he posted "if YOU think YOU can... blah." It just doesn't sit right. Anyway, the forum was restored. I try not to make forums or posts dissappear.
