I'm really looking forward to this phone as it propably will be one of the last great Nokia phones ever released + swipe really reminds me of something of wait its screen dragging :D

Currently holding N900 in my pocket and to be honest I was actually aiming for N950, but since Flop killed that phone of as just a developer phone I guess the N9 will have to do.

Sorry, I love my iPhone.

It is too closed system for my taste, but I think that is where I'm heading also after N9 if Nokia continues on its path towards doom with MS.

More Nokia smartphones? Please no! Had a N900 for some half a year and was really happy I sold it before the USB fell off... The software was crappy too and the battery life too poor for any serious use of the phone imho.

I have half decade old Sony Ericsson S500i .. it works faultlessly and I charge the (original) battery once in 1.5 weeks. So no, I am not going to switch. Hope my phone still has some years left in it as it is by far the best phone I have ever bought.

I have had my N900 for a year and a half now. Battery lasts two days in my use which is much better than any android device I have tested and the USB connector is still firmly in place.

Yes, two days is absolutely unacceptable for a phone. 2 weeks is a bare minumum for me.

"Smart"phones are just a marketingplan. You fell on it? Was it the games that are less than Tetris, or was it navigationfeature which a) doesnt work, or b) costs money? We all know browsing is out of the question.

Wow this swipe gesture, this remindes me of how my WebOS driven Pre+ handels multitasking in a much better way for years now.
I am waiting for the HP Pre3 it has much better multitasking and it's an open Platform. HP supports the Homebrew community.
To have an WebOS device it's a bit like MorphOS/AmigaOS in your pocket.
My last Nokia Phone was the 6210i, after that i switched to SonyEricsson. SE build better Phones then Nokia ever did but like Nokia the get lazy two years ago i switched to Palm WebOS, with real multitasking.

Sure, I had my first smartphone somewhere around 2003 - a wonderful, MC68020 powered Treo phone with a shades of green display... It even had a web browser that was enough to post on various amigaish sites....

And the battery lasted a lot longer than it does in nowadays smartphones :)

(it still works, I'd just need to get the battery replaced somehow)

I think it's more like an MC68VZ328, which has an FLX68000 core (that in turn is essentially a synthesizable MC68EC000 core) :-)

But what about the product itself? The company was originally formed by ex-Nokia people disappointed in Nokia's exclusive switch to Windows Phone platform, and that definitely shows. A lot has been written from scratch, but many underlying layers are the same as before (although this time without X11). The UI is very smooth.

One big difference is that now the OS has Android compatibility layer, so the phone can run many Android programs (it would be impossible for such small company to get any official support for f.ex. Skype (especially considering it's now owned by Microsoft), should you need it, now you can at least use the Android version).

As for Nokia, they're finally moving on from Windows Phone as it just doesn't sell (of course picking Android instead of "home-built" Meego, that would have been way too much pride to swallow at once), but of course it's way too late for all of this...
