Guess who was eager to update to 3.2! :-D

However, I'm not getting anywhere. Pressing C or ALT in either my PB or Mini only reveals my HDD and not my CD-reader. And just inserting the CD doesn't work at all (works fine on 3.1). All I get is this message:

    13562_bild%285%29.JPG

(btw, tried to do as it says as well. Doesn't work)

The errors are identical to both machines and I've burned two separate CD:s just in case and they both have exactly the same problem.

Remember, I'm a noob. I need some serious help/guidance here.

    - mount kernel partition (Boot: partition) if not available.
    - rename the old boot.img and copy the new boot.img to the kernel partition (Boot: partition)
    - reboot
    - Press C and install via CD

    or type

    boot /pci/cd from openfirmware :-D

That didn't work for me on my macmini until I copied over everything from the cd0: mac_ppc32 folder onto my Boot: drive, the macodboot and all that.

I'd recommend backing everything up on the Boot: drive first of course, but maybe even wait until they fix the cd image.

Wonder if it's possible to copy the mac_PPC64 onto a boot: partition on a G5 Powermac and install that way? Dunno, I've managed to get it on my Macmini, and that's enough for me tonite.

I prefer not doing complicated stuff I don't really understand. Not unless I absolutely have too.

Why is this update procedure so much more complicated than between 3.0 and 3.1? In that case it was just to insert the CD and let the installer do it's magic.

I really hope the MOS Team will fix the ISO and make the install process as pleasantly easy as before.

Found this text at a Swedish forum:

Es gibt wohl einen Fehler in aktuellen ISO, der anscheinend alle Apple Geräte betrifft. Nach der genauen Fehlerquelle wird derzeit intensiv gesucht, damit eine gefixte Version schnellstmöglich bereit gestellt werden kann.

Wer also nicht gerade auf CDRW schreibt, sollte sich die Rohlinge sparen, bis Entwarnuing gegeben wurde.

That's German, not Swedish :-) The .de TLD in the URL hints at that ;-)

Open sys:tools/mounter and mount the hfs boot partitition manually. Copy boot.img from the CD's drawer mac_ppc32 to that partitition. Inser CD (if not inserted anyway) and reboot. Proceed with the installation as normal.
Update went smooth on my mac mini that way.
If you don't want to mess with the boot: partition wait for teh fixed CD.
