E' arrivato il nuovo macintosh Mini.

    www.apple.com/macmini

    Ma guardate qui:

    www.apple.com/it/macmini

    499 US$ = 499 Euro????????? :-o

    E poi perché in Germania e Spagna 489 euro? :-? :-x

    www.apple.com/de/macmini

    www.apple.com/es/macmini

    [International]

Ok. Macmini arrives. But it is overpriced in Italy and France!!!

499 Euro!!! It is a theft.

A computer barely upgradadable sold at 119 euro more than US price.

With 1.31 US$ for each Euro US price 499 $ is about 380 Euro.

Considering taxes (VAT -20% in Italy-), transport (big quantities industrial transport price *2,5 euro each article*), publicity and launch, a honest price should be 466 Euro and be sold at at retail price of 469.
It could be raised MAX at 475 Euro in stores.

Italian price is 24 Euro more than an honest price, so it is in France.

German and Spanish prices are 10 Euro less than Italy and France, ONLY 489 Euro.
At least this seems more honest.

BUT again 14 Euro more than I expected. :-(

Bah... I believed it could be more appetible.

No expanding characteristics with PCI cards,

    No GigaEhternet,

No surround audio capabilities (only a single headphone-stereo output)

Graphic card with only 32 meg (max 64),

HDD 40 GB or 80 GB
(HD model of 80 is apart, on demand, spending more money)

Firewire 400 (No Firewire 800 like standard Macs)

Also it has *NOT* STANDARD ONBOARD Bluetooth and Apple Airport which could make the difference.

(You should purchase it apart, spending more money.)

Unfortunately a lot of people will be attracted by nothing more than a home computer because of the price (which will appears cheap to low-end users'eyes), the characteristics (which are poor in reality), the OS, and the name: APPLE.

    Ciao,

    Raffaele

    don't buy it then!
well if you want I send you the 14 euro to buy it...

jokes apart is really small and beautiful. what cares about pci. nowadays expansion goes thru usb and firewire. this is clearly a product oriented to a certain market. you can still attach to it a infinite number of things like:
hdisks, dvd burners, audio cards, midi interfaces....
and yes it has a nice os it's an apple!

it weighs only 2.9 pounds and it's very small, obviously it's a compromise. you can't have all but for everyday use is really ok.

then you must consider that apple has a tiny market and gives support so product cost more than taiwan pcs...

I am sick of all the people bashing this product that dont see it for what it is. Its a entry level mac for people wanting to try out a mac. Thats all. Its not a gamming machine or a Photoshop/video editiing box. If you want PCI and better specs you get a Power Mac. Its that simple, it realy is. At 499 Euro its still a great deal for a Mac. Its less then a used mac on ebay at half the speed.

OMG! I read this fact right now:

NO KEYBOARD AND MOUSE included into price...

    (What a fu**...)

You have to order it apart...

    ABSURD!

And also ONLY COMBO DRIVE no DVD Writer, again you have to order it apart...

And a friend of mine argued it could fit only 2,5 inch HDD.

    Oh, boys.

This new Mac is more than a joke. :-D.

    It is silly juggling. :-P

I read on ANN that price of 519 Euro is the same in Ireland Republic too...

And the person who posted still considered it a bargain...

Ugh! Sure now I think that Eire is cut off from main market channels...

It is 139 Euro over USA value, 40 Euro over reasonable price including taxes, 30 Euro more than Germany and Spain, and finally 20 Euro more than Italy and France.

IF you consider to buy one, ask friend of yours who are about to travel in countries offering lower mac prices, to buy MacMINI for you.

With an extra 35% added on that sounds about right. Take the train to Germany and get one.

Sigh. As explained before, Germany has a lower VAT than Italy (16%, not 20%). Roughly 5% difference of the VAT for a 500EUR computer would usually result in about 25EUR price difference... Funnily enough, the Mac Mini is only _10EUR_ cheaper in Germany than it is in Italy, even though the Italian VAT is quite a bit higher.

Who in his right mind would dare to complain about this? (Apart from Germans maybe.)

As for the price difference between the US and Europe, please note that ALL products sold in the European Union must include a warranty of 2 years. This is not case in the United States. If you buy a Mac Mini at $499, you get only 1 (read: one!) year of warranty. For 3 years of warranty, Apple charges an additional $149!

So, in order to compare prices between Mac Mini in Europe and the US, we have to add an additional $75 to the US price (50% of $149) which would be theoretically required to get a 2 year warranty in the US as well. $574 equal nearly 432EUR _without_ VAT.

Now, let's add 20% of the Italian VAT on-top. 20% of 432EUR are 86EUR. So, the total price in Italy should be 518EUR... According to the Italian Apple store (www.apple.com), it only costs 499EUR, however. Strange, isn't it?

The Mac Mini actually costs LESS money (19EUR to be exact) than it would in the US if you figure in the same amount of warranty and an identical VAT.

Better check your facts next time...
