    Hi folks,

Finally got my Voodoo working and I'm delighted to say that I can now
read the time readout, which was illegible with the Radeon.

However, I still only have the option for a screenmode upto 800x600.

    any ideas?

    Hi,
    I use a voodoo3 3000 AGP.
I had the same proble first time I installed MOS 1.4 from scrach.
To resolv the problem, I took my old MOS 1.3 installation and Upgraded it to 1.4. In this way, I think MOS1.4 keep screenmode settings.

So try to install an old MOS 1.3 and then Upgrade it.

Bugger! OK, tried that, now when I switch on, the Peg seems to boot OK but after the Morphos logo the screen goes black. :-?

I'm running off the CD now.
Tried a few reinstalls - same thing.

And still no other options above 800x600. :-(

I have the same problem with my Radeon 8500.
I created my own screen mode, but when I test it the settings the screen worked for 2 seconds and after that the screen became black... I dont know if the problem is on my monitor or on videocard.
..there will be only one left.

    @hooligan

AFAIK Radeons only support 24-bit modes, the higher "32-bit" actually
refers to "bits per pixel" and is still 24-bit depth (16.7m colors). There seems
to be a LOT of confusion and market-hype going around about this...

    Here's a reference

So is MOS JPG datatype really that crappy? Anyone else noticing the same behaviour? The difference is amazingly big.

Better to mention that I have a better gfxcard and better monitor attached to Pegasos than to the pc.

32bit is generally 24bit with an extra
byte for an alpha channel. I would
suggest loading it into ImageFX or
FXPaint and see if you get the same
quality. Maybe your monitor and gfx
card are just showing too much detail
    now too. ;)

Anyone a clue why PSA does only like 8Bit screens on MOS?

Some other apps allow me only to select 8 bit screens as well :-(

    Yeah
Voodoo shows time correctly. Some kind of overlay problem maybe?

Has anyone been recording and editing samples with PSA? If so please tell us how!

yes that is true but with the pegasos as with other pcs you have only 8bit of vga ,where as the classic amiga has 24bit of r g b. Which is why you wouldnt show the colors so right.SO its not true png with pegasos .Use a Sgi made png and then use a pc to try and read it right, same thing as pegasos . It wont read or show the png right. To fuzzy. Sgi differnt more true colors per bits.

The Amiga is 24bits with and extra 8bit. 8-)

But still the card should show more then the true 2 bits per channel you are now showing. It is the driver. 8-)

It won't let me save the settings, as I've booted from the CD.

    Robert,

    How did you do that?

It will certainly be usefull for other people experiencing the same trouble as you.

    Regards.

PS : I had the same problem sometime ago and fixed it, but I do not remember how.

as Tokai said further down the thread and I think Hooligan and Magnetic also gave me this advice (although I couldn't make it work to begin with - not sure why):

You have to add some bigger 8-bit screenmodes, via ModeEdit, save, then reboot.

What I want to know now is how to get the dual monitor thingy up and running.

    Then midi.

But in the words of Nana Miskouri (sp?) : "One day at a time, sweet jayzuss!" :-D

oh, sometimes I get just "black screen after MOS logo" when booting... The cure?

Just remove USB memory from USB port... Don't know what's cousing it, maybe some requester or something...?
