OK, let's assume that there's a project a, and it's estimated, that it would take one coder two months to complete (Let's not name what that project would be, we might end up arguing whether or not the project would take 2 months or longer, and that's not the point)
Anyway, how would it be better if we paid the coder per-month instead of putting that money to the bounty of that project?
With bounties there's guarantee that we will get the software, the coder won't be paid before that. That "problem" might be harder to solve with the "monthly salary" approach. Also, I guess most people like it better to put their money on a certain program(s) they want instead of on a coder, who might be working on multiple projects at the same time.
Also getting monthly income might negatively affect other income a person might be getting. Of course the salary could be "unofficial", but that's gray area we better not enter, if it's easily avoidable.
With bounties:
-There's guarantee that we will get the software.
-The coder might get more income for the same amount of money paid (in one go instead of monthly payment)
-People donating to bounties have better control of what program they want to pay for.
So becouse of those things I just mentioned, I don't think this would be better than current bounties in ANY way I could think of. Feel free to share your opinions, why it would be better
