We posted seven screenshots of MorphOS on MobileGT starting HERE. You can advance to the other pictures by continuing to select NEXT. Nice work Ralph!

The seventh picture shows a part of the dirlist of the embedded bootcd image -- 2465 files, 197 directories, 34MB. This contains basically a full desktop system, including an 8MB movie and the whole movie player software. There's really a lot packaged into this boot.img. All this can be customized down to less than a 1.7MB boot.img and you would still get a fully usable graphics/dos environment.

Planes, trains, boats, cars could all gain something from the possibility and promised offered by Mobile MorphOS.

Funky indeed. Ralph's working on that since November IIRC?

Will we see Codewarrior for MOS then (I guess you'll need a tool like that to gain success within the embedded world)?

Not a bad idea, but not totally new either. IIRC I suggested porting Mos to MPC5200 (cpu used on MobileGT evakit) fall 2003 .. At that time I thought they could make nice combo.. and looks like they indeed do. :-D

That's a very interesting development. I read the text in one of the screenshots that seems like it might be from Ralph, where the person says the MorphOS desktop on the MobileGT device is not stripped in any way.

It is good to see some new stuff like this. I wish we could make progress on the native TCP/IP and improved printer support and other stuff for MOS 1.5. Having a more complete MOS for all the Pegs out there would also be good for the MobileGT-type projects.

But not to take away from the importance of this MobileGT accomplishment. Nice work!

Nice work. I hope you are successful with this version.

I also hope that MorphOS 1.5 can be released for Pegasos owners, too.

Mobile MorphOS is a great push in the right direction, and I disagree with eliot. I think that by having MorphOS going mobile that more development for the desktop can be justified by more developers. In turn, I believe this will actually help the development of the desktop version.

However, I do agree with eliot in that a newer (est) gcc needs to be officially wrapped up in a newer SDK.

Wow! Great work. I can see that getting some major and MUCH NEEDED attention for MorphOS in the near future! I hope this means the money it could bring in will be used for PEgasos MorphOS advancement as well? Please tell me we will start to see more working and releases for the Pegasos now!!

MorphOS on more hardware? Great! But I did not bought my Pegasos II as a tester for a beta OS, which will not be continued on Pegasos. For running Linux there are faster an cheaper solutions. So does anybody want to buy my Pegasos II/G3?

Well I think its good news for MorphOS as long as long as the MobileGY guys pay to further it and make it the default OS of their hardware in all future and current compatable models. I also would like to see some of that come back to the Pegasos version. If this means MorphOS will be no more on the Pegasos and not only focus on the embeded market I will be devastated.

    @wanax:

"MobileGT is a car automation and infotainment system based on the MIPS architecture"

    MIPS? :-D

I guess you (like me at first) read
    "MIPS MPC5200 processor"
when it really was "760 MIPS
    MPC5200 processor". ;-)

    Good point ;-)

I read it like that initially as well.

    @ thread

This is very exciting for MorphOS - i'm sure that as the Mobile GT thing materializes it will funnel over to the desktop version :)

Also cool is Java is coming to MOS apparently..

Hm... I am seeing some strange opinions.... The people are wowing about some MobileGT crap.... Strange... The MOS team hadn't released the complete MOS for one platform and suddenly moved to another... Then they'll throw away half-complete MobileMOS and move to GameBoy Advance, then some tetris clones, then ps2 etc... So we'll not see ANY MOS release. Too strange to see that. It looks rather childish.

QMaster, i think you're not completely right here. This CAN be good if they don't drop already made support for hardware. This project can encourage development of MorphOS core itself.
The only real threat is that they can choose to remove Pegasos support like they did with classic Amiga (wrong step IMHO). In this case it will look really childish.

Yeah! You've got the point! I meant exactly the same. Sorry for so non-straight representation of my thoughts.

Why should they? The aim is to broaden the market. the Pegasos is the development platform for mobileGT, why for gods sake should it be abandoned???

I really hope the mobileGT efford requires a TCP/IP ;-).
