I am not sure what kind of 'availability schedule' Genesi has planned for Pegaos boards after Sept 2004.

I would like to see production of the Pegasos2 boards ramped up to at least 1000 units, for the main board. And at least 300 G3 and 300 G4 cpu cards produced.

As an example, Genesi has to give the impression that there are ALWAYS 1000+ boards & systems available at any time.

How can there be any inertia in this market if Genesi (through the websites) is giving out the impression of 'available' 'not available' messages every few weeks?

For myself, I need to be able to get my hands on some Peg2's, and I can only afford to buy so many at once (like 1 at a time) and loan these out to local IT companies for evaluation. I have some interesting companies here from industries such as game development, Pro Audio/MIDI, Robotics and machine control, web development/ISP, and so on.

Wouldn't it be cool if these companies were able to get their hands on some Peg2's and be able to do things with them, generating sales of Peg boards for Genesi? :-D

From what I understand Genesi could make well over 1000 at a time if they needed to. The problem as I can see is the cash flow required to do that though. They pay up front for EVERYthing they need to build the boards. So the more they want to produce on a run, the more money it takes to get the materials for that run. I would think as the funds from all the ODW start to flow in we will see larger and larger batches of boards come to market.

Acill is right. Some boards have been produced lately and as far as I know most of them are already sold. The problem is to keep boards or component in stock. Stock cost money specially in this market. price of component change often and delivery time can be up to 16 weeks for some components. Most of clients don't pay in front so Genesi have to advance big funds for production. Today better than producing big bunch of boards they rather communicate on the product and gat some real interest. Developement as well cost a lot.
More boards will be produced soon, I have no doubt about it. if you want some be sure you place your order on time :)

Perhaps the number of 1000 was too high? How about something lower, like 300?

Yeah, some large companies won't pay until after 60 days, that's two whole months to wait for your expenses for making the cards to be covered, so it will take time and is hard to keep in stock. But they have made a new batch recently. I know GGS got a bunch of them =)

I thought I heard something not long ago from BBRV about no G3 productions? I'm sure people would rather have a G4 if they had a choice anyway?

I fully agree with you :-) And for the one who really want a G3 because of the cheapest price they still have possibility to buy some directly from reseller until they go out of stock.
