Most of resellers propose fully configured machine for less than 900 euros. You are right it is quite the same price as an Emac but why buy a mac if you get for the same price a Pegasos that can run Mos, Linux, Mol and more ?
In another hand, I have no doubt the price will drop when quantities will follow, same for next pegasos generation ;)
I don't know why ppl buy an eMac. That is what my post was just about. It isn't cheaper than a Peg is. But the eMac has some advatages if your main aim is using OS X:
1st advantage: It's included (bought separetely it costs 140 EUR IIRC)
2nd advantage: OSX native uses gfx acceleration for Quartz
3rd advatage: official supported by Apple and easy to buy
But my main aim isn't OSX but MOS, thus I am not interested in an eMac but *love* my Peg. When MOL starts to support gfx hardware acceleration then the fun with OS X on Pegasos might really start i.e. then the Peg can gain interest from the OS X folks. Disadvantge then: Apple will not like that and they aren't really that tolerant but will sue Genesi to where the sun never shines therfore the *official* recommendation for ppl intersted in OS x will remain to be an Apple computer.
The Apples *I* am more intersted in are Cox Orange, Boskop, rote Rinette (an ancient local sort) and Granny Smith. Those are quite affordable and very compatible with me. Okay sometimes I play around with my girlfriend's iBook, but i must confess I am not too impressed by OS X.

Whenever you're sad just remember the world is 4.543 billion years old and you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie.
