Is this correct: Your dealer charged you money but they did not pay Genesi? The money stopped at the dealer instead of going forward to Genesi as payment for boards?


AFAIK, the upgrade scheme has worked very well with some other dealers, mine included, no problems whatsoever ...

Upgrade "cards"?? I'm a bit confused now. Do you mean G3->G4 processor cards for the Peg2?

APS has been very active selling the Pegasos. APS only sells full configurations.
Genesi first proposed to upgrade through the resellers.
APS communicated to their customers the upgrade plan
Since january, APS tried to order upgrades. Until this week it was not possible to get G4 Pegasos for upgrades.

I'm sure Adam from APS will sort everything out with Genesi the coming week.

I'm also waiting for my Pegasos 2 G4 from APS.

Are the new G4 boards still cooled with a fan or are they now cooled passively ?

They come with a fan mounted as standard.

I also "sold" my Pegasos 1 (and sent the money to GGS data, as agreed) to a friend of mine. Helped him install it last friday.

Do I remember right, that the G4 cpu cards were only delivered with a fan mounted to them, cause suitable passive cooling parts were not built _yet_ ?
Will there be G4 cards without a fan in the near future ?

Mine was dead :( so I am waiting for a repaired one or a new one !!

I have not heard of any original G4 CPU-boards with passive coolers. I have a Pegasos II/G4 from the first batch of publicly sold boards. It has both a heatsink and a fan, the newer CPU boards have a more silent fan and different kind of heatsink though.

From what I've heard/read the original fan is rated at about 30dBA while the newer model is rated at 14dBA.
(Here is a picture of the fan on the newer models).

GGS-Data will replace older fans with the new one for EUR12.50 (approx), without loss of warranty. Perhaps this only applies to boards sold through GGS-Data though? (The older G4 CPU card had the fan connectors soldered directly to the CPU-card)
