About the issues with sound, is it really articia? I had for example, some troubles with some earphones, but I think due to the little power the board chipset develops... using self amplified speakers resolved this problem, as well as using a SbLive as I have right now...
Anyway, peg1 is a very nice machine ;) and I don't have money for a peg2 :P let me have my illusion :P.
The sound per se on Peg1 is not bad, some even say the *sound quality* would be better (whatever the cause might be, the codec is the same, I guess it was something about better conductances on Peg1 or so, dunno and not important because it's only very marginal at best).
The sound issues which are present on Peg 1 are due to Articias poor performance. During heavy load on the agp bus, that pci bus the sound is sitting on does not always get the full performance. Result: the sound starts stuttering.
But to be honest I only get stuttering when moving Voager's windows highspeed around (I rarely do that), thus no big issue.
Peg1 is still a fine maschine, the april1 version I own is still a bit too crippled, too many hard locks due to network traffic. Besid that even the peg1 April1 is quite a nice maschine (that nice that I never felt the need to upgrade since I have it).

Whenever you're sad just remember the world is 4.543 billion years old and you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie.
