As seen on BBRV's blog, titled Back for the future (must read):

    Quote:

We sent money out for MorphOS development. It is the first time we have sent more than a few thousand Dollars/Euros to anything MorphOS related for more than a couple of years

    BIG THUMBS UP!

    That's great :)

I hope this motivates the MorphOS team to get v1.5 out soon so that all EFIKA owners can join the fun as well...

Sounds very good! Some more information about this would be appreciated though - exactly what kind of funding is this? A cooperation to keep funding morpos for the future, a one-time-donation to speed up 1.5, for some specific "bounty-type" development..? Or perhaps to solve some issues from morphos.net-site..?

Anyone that can fill in the blanks here are more than welcome to do so.

Anyway, a great step forward and very good news :)

Just to be clear.. even that BBRV quote doesn't say anything about sending money to the MOS Team. Maybe they are funding some other MOS project? Some port or original development? Well, I don't know, but it would be wrong to just assume the MOS team got any money (or asked for any).

I've just realized that this could very well be the case. It doesn't say "MorphOS team", but "MorphOS development".

Nevertheless, back to the wating game (only with more hopes, if that could be possible even).

The payment was made directly to the MorphOS Team. We are hoping that this helps get things going again. This money was spent toward the future, not the past.

    R&B :-)

    R A D !!!!!

I'm playing with Ubuntu right now but, like most Linux distros, it kinda hates me :-( I like linux OK, don't get me wrong, but I like MorphOS a WHOLE LOT BETTER and will be SUPER STOKED to get 1.5 on my Efika. Would now be a good time for me to get that firewire bounty going, BBRV?

Maybe some of the dinero will go towards getting SATA drivers for MOS too, it seems like that's where all the new HDD tech is going.

Well cool, this is great news! Well done Genesi :-) And, well done MOS team!

    Sounds good.
The Efika is a chance - for MOS, for Genesi, for me, for #? (excluding Elvis' return that is).

the Efika is IDE, not SATA. I don't think some money has been sent for SATA :)

Hey, even I was sent and EFIKA!! I'm almost done with my clear-cased cosmetic-box system. I can hardly wait to boot it up, but have had to spend much time on the construction process. (Never imagined building my own support system would be as difficult as it has been).

    Anyway, kudos to EVERYONE!!!

You mean that there exists some very important (undisclosed? commercial?) project, which requires MorphOS 1.5?

I think to get to the next level MorphOS must break out of "Amiga universe" way of thinking and be more friendly to "regular folks" or at least "regular geeks" who may be interested in it.

In my opinion, Amiga universe's way of thinking, is friendly for regular geeks.

Concerning to the regular folks, they won't change their windows, so better don't worry much about them.
