    I am a happy user off a powerbook 5.8.
    Also have a peg2 and a samsung mp3 player 1GB.
The player always worked perfectly in the peg copying deleting no problems.
But in the powerbook I can't seem to get a file copied greater then 1 MB after this the player drops dead..NAk timeout.
Are the ports usb2.0 on the pb? I believe I had similar issues with a nec usb 2.0 card on the peg while the standard usb ports worked ok.
I fiddled around with the settings off the device timeout delay max transfer single lun etc...same
please help I want some other music on my player!

Yes, both PowerBook G4 revisions D and E supported by MorphOS have USB2. The last PowerBook G4 without USB2 was revision A from early 2003.

Ok that explains why the player drops dead while copying there is some bug in the driver I think?
Strange that it copies a file of say 5Mb for a 2 MB and then stops. So small files will probably work ok.
Can I use some kind off workaround maybe a usbhub which transfers the usb2.0 to usb 1.1?

You could try using a powered hub. Powerbook ports (in fact most USB ports) supply only 500mA current, as per the USB specs. In my experience many USB ports supply more than this, resulting in devices which work fine on some ports, but do not work properly on others. (eg, I have an external USB hard drive which requires 700mA - on the powerbook it requires seperate power supply, on most desktops it works just fine from the USB power.)

It may be that the device is supplied with enough current to initialise, but fails after a few seconds under the 'heavy use' of writing (or starts trying to charge an internal battery, adding to the load).

I added an external harddrive which also has a usb hub.
Things did improve I am able to copy file for file without dropping dead, but multiple files in one go still
results in a drop dead situation and copying offcourse is stopped and file must be deleted.
When the player drops dead it almost instantly get's recognized again and I can copy another file.
This external harddrive has it's own powersupply so power shouldn't be an isssue.
