If I for example is downloading alot of files with MLDonkey and look in the Network Statistics window I can enjoy a very high download speed. But if I now start to copy some large files with Ambient I can see a very large drop in the recieve speed.

This is not a disaster, but i suppose we want MorphOS to be perfect!

I think I experience this also, even on the Pegasos2 not only on Mac Mini. When starting the copy then it says something like "Buffering..." or so and it takes quite some time before it starts the copy process. Don't know why this happens...

Hmm, I don't believe we talk about same thing here.
Sounds like you should defrag your partitions or increase buffers for SFS in system settings.

I have noticed that copying files from newtork drive with FTP was super slow. Not tried with just normal file copy. Will try over weekend and report back

I thought defragmentation doesn't existe anymore with SSD drives? or isn't that the case? and buffers are set to 2048 for all partitions as well as in SFS settings buffer lines = 128 and read ahead buffer = 32768 (these settings where suggested by the SFS developper some years back)

The buffering phase allocates memory for the copy, and computes the number of files and total size. If this phase takes long, it means you really have a slow access to the files (or possibly heavy fragmentation like gdanko suggested).

I dont think it's a fragmentation problem, as I checked the hd's with defrag and I had all in all about 1 % of fragmentation. I rather think it's again a LAN problem due to perhaps slow access to the files on those partitions...

Buh.. these LAN problems are driving me crazy! I still can't use my MacMini's because of this! I don't know neither if this is an Envoy3 problem or a device problem as with the Pegasos's it seems to work but not the MacMini's.

Also I don't know how to setup a LAN with some other software than Envoy3, something like I have with Envoy3, which is: one Pegasos acts as a server and several partitions of the servers HD are mounted automatically during stratup on the clients and these partitions are available just like if they where local partitions.

If you can help me with this, it would be great. As I use MorphOS professionnaly and there are 4 people working every day 8 hours, I need to be shure that there want occur any problems, like data corruptions, or if coping a lot of small files that the LAN hangs, or...
