Hmm, on my Efika nothing happens after booting the downloaded boot image. I mean, the Ambient is there, and all the icons and menus are there, too, but according to the official README I should at that point be following some on-screen instructions, but there aren't any!

Anyone with the same problem? HELP!

MorphOS 2.0 released! Great news indeed! :-D

For people lacking MorphOS supported hardware - The Efika is available brand new from many sources (with variations in location, price, terms, and bundled peripheral equipment):

Australians can try contacting ausPPC, he is a member of this board, and he has this line in his sig:
"Want an Efika? I've got a bunch of 'em. Plus Pico PSUs & 9250s prefit into 5.25" cases. ausppc@gmail.com"

The (in our community) famous AmigaKit.com lists Efika motherboards in stock.

You can also buy complete systems or Efika motherboards from Vesalia who also has them in stock.

Scandinavian GGS Data was the one who shipped me my Efika. They are very flexible and good to deal with, and can build a system (even pre-installed with Xubuntu (or whatever) Linux) according to your wishes. I don't know whether they have boards in stock, or if they will restock if they haven't, but if you are Scandinavian and want to deal with a "local" dealer you could always try to e-mail gunne@ggsdata.se.

Americans could check out Directron.com, who are currently dumping their stock of Efika motherboards at only $99 a piece, they list them to be in stock. They also sell pre-built systems. Overseas customers and people with no credit card should try to e-mail them instead of using the web shop.

Also, Genesi has now reopened their web store, in time for MorphOS 2.0 release: https://www.genesi-usa.com/store.php
This is the Efika motherboard built into a custom metal case with Pico PSU, HDD and GFX card. A complete and pre-assembled system in other word. They don't sell standalone motherboards.

Those were the options I can think of from the top of my mind... :-)

People wanting a second hand Pegasos 1 or Pegasos 2 (recommended) should try checking out the "For Sale" ads on various Amiga/MorphOS forums, including this one! :-)
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

on the tiny efika install image the welcome application was skipped for space reasons. Its part of the big ISO only.

Just start IWizard and follow the instructions. IWizard can be found in the Tools drawer... AFAIK there is alos a panel with some icons... press the one with the fancy 'magician hat' symbol, thats IWizard ;)

It's complete. The 11MB image is just a downloader/install image which installs the same data as for pegasos1 and 2.

theres no panel at all at least for me. this is my 4th boot to mos with boot cd and
never seen a panel... i was wonder why is it not present,
but maybe for the peg!s version theres none on the bootcd just after the install - just my guess...

after a little toying with the bootcd i"ve been running into some problem>

at my 1st boot after the bootpic the monitor has switched off.
selecting a radeon screenmode at bootmenu has done the trick,
but when the system is trying to open a new screen (for a blanker preview fe.)
the monitor goes off. its a 19" crt.

i"ve experienced 3 complete lockup/freeze during the 2 hour test period, even ctrl a+a didnt work, had to push the reset button.
all three lockups happened in different situations *fe. i was trzing to open sfsdoctor once, another occured when i was browsing with sputnik, etc..)

but except these issues MorphOS 2.0 is really great! it feels very professional,
looks beautiful, got almost everything that i wanted in MorphOS and much more:)
(well, i was a little bit dissapointed about not having a single new skin, but its minor issue:)

hopefully tomorrow i will have enough time to install it to hd and start to use it seriously.

Congrats To The MorphOS Team for this wonderful OS!
    thank you!

First, this is FANTASTIC news! I'm stoked!

But for us Americans, 111 Euros is.. 175.00. Ouch. Is that per box? Because I have two Pegs and an Efika.

It's gonna take me a minute to come up with that much scratch! So, how long does the time limit last?

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it came out and I will legally license all my MorphOS boxes, but wow. A little sticker shock there. :-/

Oh well, it's only money. Thanks MorphOS team, for a great new release. I'm stoked :-)

Waked up at 06:00 (italian hour) this morning and find it!!! :-). What a surprise! I mean: I was 98% sure MOS-Team didn't lie at all (2% is for tecnical problems) and so, this is a good morning.
Ok, now I'm going to work... But after.. ;-)
    Thanks, Thanks!

I'm hoping BBRV is here in San Antonio and by chance happens to have a EFIKA with him for the sum of $99. It would save me time vs. ordering from Directron.

It is great to see that MOS 2.0 is now ready, but 175$ is a very high price.
So, the question is the same: is that price per box, or per user, coz I have 2 boxes?

it's the price per machine :-(

i'm selling my peg i can't afford 2 licences (not sure i can afford one anyway)
It ruins the happiness about that release for many uers from what i can read here and there.

If the price is per box, then I will not be able to afford it to me.
Anyway 111 or much worse 150 eur is a VERY high price for Russia and I will think twice before paying it.
PS: I'm asking a question to myself, isn't it better to find another 850eur and buy an iBook, or Mac Mini???

    Guys

Comon, its a fair price for the amount of work and size of market. Its like giving your peg/efika new life as well think of it like that.

Well, the release I thought was coming yesterday since Tokai in his usual sense of humour gave the release date as an "Easter egg" in the MOS 2.0 poll.

The price makes me think about leaving my Efika as Linux download-server. And if the license is per machine and can't be transfered to other if your Efika dies I'm sure a lot of people will leave the community.

BTW... Do I still need to copy ARexx from my OS3.9 CD?
