Couple of questions.

    Hi all.

I'm sure that these questions has been answered before but I cant seem to find where though :).

I was thinking of getting myself a MorphOS based system, I miss the days when computing was fun. Okay GNU/Linux is kind of fun but I cant stand it's file system, it just doesn't make sense to me on a desktop computer.

    Questions:

    1) I know I can (or will in the close future, I hope) run MorphOS on a Efika, but I want a slightly more powerful computer. Genesi seems not to sell Pegasos II anymore, so what system should I get. If MorphOS 2.0 will use all that nice "bling, bling" effects it needs a stronger system than Efika currently is, am I right?

    2) When I finally get my new system, where do I actually get MorphOS, I'm a bit put of and a bit scared to get a system to run a certain OS, on which the first search result at google is a statement from the Morph team where the "sellers" doesn't seem to pay their developers.

Well, thats my biggest questions and concerns, I hope this community will not be offended with a first poster like me, cause I'm really exited about getting this OS to at least reminisce about the good ol' days. I still remember when my father unpacked his Amiga1000 back in the mid 80's and that wonderful smell and this seems to be the closest I will ever get to that feeling again :(.

You can check the Fleamarket-forum right here on MZ for starters.

hi Vasilii and welcome on board

i'll try to answer some of your questions and others will correct me if needed.

    - the only available hardware for MorphOS for now is the Efika

    - Pegasos computers can be found on the flea market as hooligan said. It's not that hard to find a second hand Pegasos if you keep searching, a Pegasos1 april2 board is quite cheap on the second hand market.

    - I heard of a bundle with Efika + MorphOS but i may be wrong. If you get an efika you'll be able to purchase MorphOS 2.0 anyway, there will be a online registering system.

    - MorphOS 2.0 is still being worked on, not available yet.

    - The 3D effects had been demonstrated on an Efika :)

Those EFIKAs really seems to be nifty little things but after some reading here at this forum they just doesn't seem sufficient for a competent OS like MorphOS, I mean you cant even connect common hardware like a dvd reader.

Well well, I guess I'll have to hunt down a peggy then :).

    Thanks to both of you.

USB 1.1 is a bit slow, and for moving stuff (movies) it's just a no go.

yes, u're in true, for now a Peg 1 with the "april" patch is the "low entry" choice for the ordinary desktop work (but if u can, is better to buy a Pegasos2)

In the meantime if u want a "larger" view of the "MorphOS world" (HW+SF wise) u can look at: http://www.webalice.it/fulvio.peruggi/public/Pegasos&MorphOS/Articles/06_MorphOS_TLOS/MorphOS_extended_en_frames.html
