    Hi All
I have a small problem with my fxScan4 uder MOS1.4.5
After running and scanning and saving first document, I try to scan a second document, but I couldn't because the scanning image button is inactive. I must restart fxScan to scan next document. Its annoying.
I have an Epson Perfection 1240U Photo USB scanner. The scanner is OK, under Linux fully works.
I installed my full CD fxScan version with SN and all updates - the IOUSB Update too. All went ok.
    Do you have any ideas?

I use FXSCAN and Epson perfection 1650 Photo with
    BetaScan withou any problem.
Scanquix 5 don't work with this scanner.

If you use ScanQuix, try betascan,
    perhaps it works better.

    Thanks for reply
No, I don't use ScanQuix. ScanQuix don't suport my scanner.
I use betascan driver. I think my fxScan and Poseidon settings are common:
    There are my fxScan settings:
    Driversystem: BetaScan
    Scannerdriver: fxscan:scanners/EpsonUSB.device
    Device: usbraw.device (without any path)
in Unit list all items looks like this: 00:No device
    First unit 0 is selected.

I use the the MorphOS and IOUSB problem solution from IOSpirit homrpage FAQ:
    ---------------------------
    4. I have problems to use my EPSON Scanner under MorphOS on Pegasos.

Right now the iousbscanner.device is (not yet) compatible to MorphOS. However, Poseidon now features a replacement for iousbscannder.device: the rawwrap.class.

Choose "usbraw.device", Unit 0 in fxSCAN as "Device". Now attach the rawwrap.class to your scanner and configure it accordingly. Follow these steps to get there:

In Trident, click on "Classes", then on "rawwrap.class", then on "Configure". There, under "Global", activate the Option "Bind to Vendor/Unknown Interfaces". Now go to the second tab "Default Interface" and select/enter these values:
    Default usbraw.device Unit: 0
    Exclusive access: Yes
    Out NAK Timeout: 20000ms
    In NAK Timeout: 20000ms
    In Buffer Mode: No buffering
    Buffer Size: 36 KB
    Short Reads Terminate: Yes
Now click on "Use as Default" and select "Devices" on the left. There, click on your scanner and click on "Class Scan". Now close Trident by clicking on "Save".
    ------------------------------

Everything went OK during instalation and configuration fxScan, Updates and at all. So, I have no idea why I can scan once a run and when I want to scan again I must restart fxScan.

I have the same hardware and software (Epson Perfection 1240U Photo USB scanner, fxSCAN V4.05 with IOUSB update) installed on a Pegasos II G4. I have configured usbraw.device as prescribed by the IOSpirit FAQ, exactly as you did, and fxSCAN configuration is the same, too.

Everything works fine for me since several months, so it is reasonable to assume that it might work perfectly on your system, but I have absolutely no idea concerning the source of your problem...

Ask Felix Schwarz for help, he is a very kind person and maybe can give you some useful suggestions.

Yes, your suggestion is right: fxSCAN puts all the scanned images in RAM, and with high-dpi scans they are really huge. There were never problems for me because I have plenty of RAM, and usually save small groups of images on the hard disk for future processing, and soon remove them from RAM.

Do you have "only" 256 Mb of RAM? Time to upgrade... :-)

    Hi,

after scanning the first document, you can watch the picture by clicking on "show picture". If you click
on the same button again, fxscan will show you all
scanned pictures, and the button "scanning" is no
longer ghosted, so that you can scan the next document.

Thanks You for advices. Everything's OK now.

    @zukow
Switching in thumbnail mode is enough to activate the scan button.

    @DoctorMorbius_FP
As you can see above, it's not the amount of my RAM problem :)

    @eliot
    Yeah, you're absolutely right!
Why I didn't discover this feature earlier? :)

I also did not recognize this feature on my own,
    i had to ask Felix!
Its a pity that Felix does not longer support
Amiga/MorphOs. FxPaint and FxScan are one of the
best programs ever released for Amiga. I use them
    every day, ..

This message is meant just to report the result of a scanning session I have done today, paying attention to the inactive scan button problem. Well, scanning, and scanning, and scanning, without doing anything other (like going into the "show picture" section), that button never became inactive. (Nor it becomes if I do any other action in other sections of the program).

Thus maybe there is something special in my fxSCAN settings or in my MorphOS configuration that prevents the problem. Unfortunately I am not able to imagine what is the cause of this "panacea".

Anyway, you already have a solution... :-)

Yes, the first case is finished, and this is not a problem yet, but I have another one. :)

After scanning, when I go to the image working section, and then, after scaling etc., when I go back to the scanning section to see again my preview, a can't see a preview of pictrure that I scanned previously! (???) The scanarea box keeps its previous size and pos. but the preview disappear.
Have You the same? It's annoying because I must make a new prescan after every picture saving.

I'm sorry for the very long delay, but I missed your question...

Yes, the same happens here: when I leave the scan section for some image processing section, the preview image is lost.

But... is this really so important? After you have scanned, processed, and saved the image, what's the need for preserving the preview? It seems natural that the user will now scan another page...

Thanks for reply. I thought this is only my individual problem.

This is not so simple sometimes :)
Sometimes I need to go back to a preview and change the scanarea on the same picture, and scan again.
Yeas, I know. I can scan the whole picture once, and then split it with other software, but when I don't need a high precission, it would be nice to do it much faster via scanning with no need running other apps.
