    I've a question. Why in "System settings" there's no ethernet config section? In Linux and windowze I can set "DHCP enable" in ethernet port so I can navigate with every browser immediatly 'cause my internet config is already in the bios of my ADSL ethernet modem(D-Link DSL 300-T). In this case I must no use any Miami or others to connect 'cause my modem is just connected. So, please, guruman or every good man which is the solution and where is the eth settings in MOS? :-( :-( :-( :-(

    For now, you must use MiamiDx or Genesis, if you want TCP/IP functionality on MorphOS. It's because thoose are not only fancy GUI's to set up the network connection, but they include the actual network functionality and the TCP/IP stack as well.

    So without MiamiDx or Genesis, you can't make MorphOS networked ATM. In the long-awaited 1.5, there is a Network Setup in the System Settings window, exactly as you said, and the system itself includes network functionality. At least this is what the rumours say, so we all hope there will be no more need for MiamiDx and/or Genesis. Also, it will be PPC native, not emulated.

    Hi

    If it is DHCP you want to set up ?

    Then, MiamiDX -> interfaces -> eth

    Choose DHCP for - IP type, Netmask type. Gateway type

    You need to put in IP addresses for name servers you want to use in;

    Database -> DNS servers

    Best wishes, Gunne

    @gunne
    I tried it and this is the message:

    "The DHCP server refused to renew the lease on
    your IP address. If this problem occurs frequently
    then you should contact your network provider."

    Try to go into TCP/IP settings... window inside Interface definition window, and play with the settings there a bit. Enabling "Use DHCP" and/or "Use ICMP" there (depending on your MiamiDx version) sometimes helps for me.

    But IIRC there was an ugly patch for MiamiDx esp. to use with Italian ISP's, which solved problems like that. Maybe you need that one. But i can't help you to find that. Try to ask Italian users. :-)
