I've got hold of a second-hand Pegasos1, and am currently trying to get everything to work...but:

I can't get the OpenFirmWare to recognize my hd at startup. At the install of morphos I got the "filesystem not supported" error. Ok, So I used the "HDMBRclear" program and the "HDWrite" program as specified in the manual. I created two partitions (one 50 mb FFS for the bootpeg1.img, renamed to boot.img and one SFS partition for Morphos). I copied al the files from the Install-cd to the Morphos partition, I copied and renamed the bootpeg1.img to the FFS partition, reset the computer...and nothing. I get an error "no such file or device" at startup. "ls hd" produces the same error.

My HD is a Western Digital 80 gb and works fine when I boot from cd. Suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Hi Stevo,

Did you make your SFS partition with MOS on it bootable?
The FFS partition mustn't be bootable.

Next step:

If you are in the firmware, type: show-devs and Enter.

See in the list if you see something like "/pci800000/ide70000/disk@0,0 (block)"

Don't mind the numbers, only the "disk@0,0" part is important.

If you see this device try then booting from it with the command:

boot_/disk@0,0:0_boot.img

The underscore is a space!

is the FFS partition larger than 4gb? If it is, it will not boot. set it to one gig for example.

I have still one question though; what commands must I give at the OpenFirmware prompt to get the autoboot working? (I'm not trusting the manual anymore ;)

Like Estrayk has shown you.
Just type those commands in the open firmware and it should boot.
To quicken the boottime I've set my "timeout" to 500 instead of the standard 3000. And it isn't important to write down "/pci/ide/disk@0,0:0"
You can suffice with "/disk@0,0:0"

Thank you guy's, you're the greatest! I just installed mplayer and watched some dvd-movies; kind of a shock, using a 28 mhz A1200 until recently

*wowhohow* u used a 28MHz 68k amiga1200 to watch DVDs... that's something I call: brave!
