Yep - this has also happened to me. I haven't looked into it yet (until your post, I had thought it might just be that my internal battery was flat)

Also, my hard drive doesn't get detected on first boot up. I have to reset the machine once after turning on (I think the drive is still warming up when the OpenFirmware does its checks - its a very old drive, bless it, hopefully soon to be replaced by a much better Seagate Barracuda...)

Anyone else had this detection problem??

few times on and off i have no probs now :-)

    Well...:)

After spending my first day playing around with a
Pegasos, I have to say that I am VERY impressed with
what has been accomplished thus far. I'm having more
fun on a computer than I've had in years! Ambient
rules, there are a few niggles, but at this point I'm
chalking them up to my inexperience thusfar with MOS.

    That being said...;)

The manual contained either several print errors, or
the commands in the firmware didn't work on my
setup. With a little common sense I still got it
"fired up", but for a Pegasos "newbie" it made things a
a bit frustrating...albeit a fun, amiga sort of
frustrating. :) The biggest issue was that the
"boot hd <filename>" type commands from the manual
    didn't work, but "boot /pci/ide/disk@x:x,x <fn>"
seemed to do the trick. Oddly enough
"boot cd <filename>" worked fine, but not without the
filename (as printed in the book).

    Another small issue:

How do I set the firmware to skip initialization
after simple resets? From what I understand it
should only perform the full init at cold boot,
and not necessarily at subsequent resets. I have
a feeling it's to do with the "setenv" commands,
but once again the book's instructions don't work
here. I have it booting on it's own now after
resetting, but it does a complete init every time,
which increases the boot-time quite a bit.

Peace, and Happy New year to all,

    -d

    -edit--

And one more question...is "ed" broken in MOS?

To correct the time setting after a restart/power on add this line to your "startp-sequence".

    C: SetClock LOAD

    works for me.
    Ask Dr. Stupid,
    Dear Dr. Stupid,
Why do we have to go to school?
That's a very good question. It's becuse your parents are
ALIENS!!! When your at school they shed there human skins and
    breathe drier lint! hahahaha!

I think there is some notice in the manual
that you have to first make an alias set to
hd so that it works. But you're right, for a newbie it can be quite confusing.

One problem on bigger manual is that it's written in German. A lot of people can't that language even as well as English.

Setclock LOAD doesn't work here on PegII.
I put it in startup-sequence before iPrefs and I receive this error message:"wrong arguments number".
Also if I type it in a shell in Ambient, it works ONLY if I type setclock SAVE and AFTER setclock LOAD, but in this way it's useless... ;-)
It seems we need a new release of boot.img. Wayting for it: a computer than can't correctly handle time is almost useless...

There is also the Pegasos Quickstart Guide over at morphos-news.de:

    http://www.morphos-news.de/beta2help/

It was written for the Pegasos I but it could be useful for Pegasos II aswell.
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

Thanks for the link, that explains things clearly.

    About the clock issue --

Oddly enough, the clock seems to be saving properly
    at my end.

Yes I have the same problem I have to reboot after a "cold" reboot even if I have a recent hardrive... I think it is because of my cd writer wich make time to initialise. But it worked good with pegI....
I added c:SetClock LOAD in the beginning of my startup-sequence and it works, Thanks !

    Hi all,

got my Peg II G4 here and it's GREAT. :-D

Just one strange problem: After a reboot (only then!) all disk icons (including Ram Disk) appear twice on Ambient! It's only after a cold restart that the icons appear one by one as they should. Anyone else who's had that problem?

And: I can't get the SysSpeed benchmark to run. The memory benchmark crashes (can be switched off though) and worse, whenever I try to save a created module, it crashes, too. AmiGod crashes as well. Only AmigaMark runs fine but doesn't have comprehensive intuition tests included.

BTW: Is there ANY reason why just copying the new boot.img over the old one from MOS 1.4 should not be enough? Are there any other files that have been renewed in 1.4.1?

Thanks to all and a happy new year!
    CK
