It would also send out a message to software developers "beware, if you do not port your application we will steal your sourcecode and do it ourselves". Are you sure that is what you want?
I think Genesi is doing a good job of getting software for the platform. We really should wait for the 3D drivers to improve/mature and then see what happens on the game-front instead of trying to push something ahead that is already moving at a good pace.
At the time being MorphOS might not be the best platform for modern 3D games and getting more applications is probably more important at this stage anyway. A platform which works great for games but has few applications is not that appealing because then people could just go out and buy a (cheaper) game console anyway. I'm certain that Genesi has a plan where they have set up goals and in which order they should be achieved to benefit the platform the most. They know that people want (3D) games and I'm sure that issue will be addressed as soon as they find that it would benefit the platform the most.
There was a recent thread on the beta2 mailinglist where some people claimed that noone would buy the platform if there were no (modern) games available for it. Well, I neither play games or owned an amiga and I bought one so I don't think that argument holds.
Finally, this is not a mail to attack anyone who wants Q3 on MorphOS, believe me, I would love to have it as well. This is just my view on the current situation.
