At the moment you have to search to much informations to get MOs running on a ppc like mine.

Let's be frank: this is not going to change. Even if we decide to release 2.0 for PowerUP at some point, it will still be as hard (or as easy for many people who actually rtfm) to install as it is with 1.4.5PUP. This is exactly why we provide free registrations. We cannot possibly charge money if we cannot guarantee it works on most machines.

So if you ever dreamed about some boxed MorphOS for your Amiga, better wake up now.

Boxed or not it would be cool to run it on my Amiga :)
I have heard that Mos 2.0 is running very fast on the efika. So it would also run pretty good on an Amiga 1200 PPC@200mhz.

I'll be donating to that fund come payday (20th).
I had a Peg, but sold it as my desk is already cluttered with too many machines. I have an AmigaOne, but will probably be selling that too soon.
The Amiga 400/PPC is the rosetta stone - runs AmigaOS, runs Linux, runs MOS, runs (hopefully soon) OS4. All the microOSes are fast enough on the A4k; since I bought the AmigaONE I've barely used it. Same went for the Peg. They're fast, but I'm happy with the A4k.
It may be old, but it's all that in one box, and with the scsi3 the disk access is fast enough.
Although, I would like an Efika. It's also quite small - wouldn't clutter the desk up too much. Maybe if I get rid of the scanner, or put another shelf up.... :-D

To which fund should I donate for encouraging the PUP MOS2.0 port?

I seem to be going a little blind - can't see a link to it, can't see it in bounties...

$99 for an os is reasonable. Look how much OSX and Vista costs.

well Vista is way too pricey for sure, but OSX ? around 129$ ? I don't find it expensive at all.
In terms of functionalities, MorphOS should be around 15$ then ?

kidding of course, but 99$ seems a bit expensive for a hobby OS. 49$ seems more fair.

Done - even if 2.0 does not get released, it is worth the donation for the work done so far for the classics. Providing a free PPC native OS with the functionality of MOS should not go unrecognised or unrewarded.

I'm making myself feel guilty now for only donating Euro25 :-)

I've donated to Morphos Powerup once again, this time with the request of having Mos2.0 on my classic Amigas.

I'm gonna support it again, as soon as I get my salary :-D

Good to hear the MOS team wil be charging for the next release. I would like to see them get something for all the work they do.

I've been thinking of giving a 2-3K donation of I hear a solid confermation of the next release. My stocks have been real good to me this year.

    Hi,
I remember that I donated 100 euros when MOS PUP 1.4.5 came out, and i will do the same when 2.0 will come out

Vista Integrale OEM 32 bits is just 200 euros when you buy a chipset fan (4e)... instead of 650.....

Yes, you will have to pay for the next version.

    Why ? (that's a question...)
I mean: did this version require more work than, say version 1.4 ? What's the difference ?
Nothing hurts a project more than developers not taking the time to let their community know what is going on.

    *sigh*

Seems like this behaviour hasn't changed at least... But I guess that if people pay for your product, you'll have to behave differently...

If people pay for my products, couldn't I then assume they like my behaviour? :P

On a more serious note; yes, alot more work went into 1.5^H^H^H2.0, however why should one have to justify moving from a free product to a paid product? What matters in the end is if people are willing to pay for what they get.

You seem to imply that just because we happened to give away <=1.4.x for free that it was worthless...

    @jacadcaps

With just a few improvements the PowerUP version could work more easily:
-exchange the module1.rom by module1.rom.idehack so it can boot always. If user has idefix or something similar he could change the startup-sequence, otherwise it should run as standard. Easy

-use Piru's whichAmiga code to detect if it's running on a BlizzardPPC or a CyberstormPPC. No need to change values in the startup-sequence. Easy (with Piru's code... otherwise WhichAmiga's output could be parsed)

-make it load as default without ROM3.1. and simply extract automatically audio.device and trackdisk.device. Chris Hodges knows very well how to extract rom modules from ROM. The bootloader could do it as standard. (Easy. At least for Chris)

-make it boot from the volume where the bootloader is located as default (if you don't select another volume). Easy.

-include a 68k SFS suitable to perform the installation. That way users won't use the wrong 68k SFS version.

With just very few changes it could autoboot from CD and autodetect the configuration, so users wouldn't have to touch startup-sequence.

It would be quite easy and fast to perform those changes.
